  1. For all who were wondering about the next cohort for Cedars, they just posted the application. I believe it has a September start date. Good luck!
  2. I'm glad to see all the participation on this thread. It helps to know that everyone is getting the same emails and I am not missing anything. I too got the call and application/authorization and references email. Was anyone else told that they would be getting another email about the drug screen? From what the HR lady said I thought this would come through today but I haven't seen anything. Who are you all listing for your references? I looked at the questions and it seems like they want clinical supervisors or faculty to weigh in, which rules out the researchers and non-clinical faculty I have worked with. Any thoughts? When I asked my HR contact she didn't seem very sure about it. Is anybody on this thread relocating? I am going to stay with friends in Irvine for the first few weeks but that is super far away. Any thoughts? Thanks!
  3. When I got the call on Tuesday, I asked and was told that once they have finished making all the phone calls an email will go out. It seems like it is one lady in the nurse recruiting office handling everything to do with new grad communications. I am just as eager as everyone else, especially since I am relocating for this job, but I am trying to be patient. I am so glad everyone is sharing here that they have not gotten the email yet either. It relieves some of the anxiety. :-)
  4. Hi all. For those who will be starting in July, I created a thread to help us network about everything between now and then. I know there are several of us who will be relocating, and I am hoping that thread will help us discuss places to live, roommates and any other information related to getting started. The thread is "Cedars-Sinai July 2014 New Grad Cohort" https://allnurses.com/california-nursing/cedars-sinai-july-924540.html Congratulations everyone. If I see any information on the next cohort I'll post here for those reapplying. The CA New Grad RN Jobs list on Facebook is also a good resource for finding job postings you may have missed. Good luck!
  5. I just want to give encouragement to everyone who did not make it. I graduated a year ago, May of 2013, and it has been a very long road applying to hundreds of positions since then and finally landing this offer almost a year to the day since I graduated. I will say every interview experience helped me to be better prepared for the next one, so just keep putting one foot in front of the other and gear up for the next one. It is such a hard market for new grads right now in CA, I think even more so than many other places. Something that really helped me was reviewing my med-surg notes and clinical stories from nursing school but also really focusing on what makes me unique as a candidate. Work whatever your passion or experience leads you to share in your interviews and make it compelling. Something will work out if you keep at it! Surround yourself with positive cheerleaders and do whatever you need to do to keep improving your interview skills until you succeed.
  6. Hi all! I know it is early since they are still contacting people, but I wanted to start a thread for those of us who are starting in the new grad cohort at Cedars-Sinai on July 7, 2014. I know there are at least several of us who are relocating from NoCal and will be looking for roommates or advice on where to live, etc. I am hoping this will be an easy way for us to network and share information as we make our plans and get ready to start. Congratulations to everyone and thanks for any questions, tips or advice. So. . Is there anyone out there looking for a roommate? Anyone local have tips for us regarding where to look for a safe, commutable place to live? Anyone have tips on getting around town? Is a car essential?
  7. Oh my goodness! I had to refrain from squealing on the phone, but I just got my call with a job offer. Hold hope those who have not heard yet. My last name starts with N.
