Cedars Sinai New Grad August 2021 Cohort

Just wanted to kick this one off for all those who are applying so that we can all lean on one another. So nervous!

I thought I had a relatively solid application (years of volunteer experience, good grades, clinical experience outside of school, glowing letters of rec), but after my rejection from UCLA last week, I'm not so sure anymore. ?

Got a referral this time around, but the referral told me to still apply to other facilities because it's fairly competitive at Cedars.

I just got an email a few minutes ago as well:

Congratulations! You have been selected to participate in the next round of our interview process for Cedars-Sinai’s upcoming New Grad RN Residency Program.

It's weird, I feel grateful and excited, but also really nervous. I guess that's just an indication of how badly I want this. 

Though my status still says "Under Consideration," the email did indicate that I'm scheduled for a connectivity test in a few weeks. 

I wish everyone the best, I'm sure a few more emails will be coming out over the next few hours.

My status has not changed for the Cedars application. It still says under consideration & hasn't been updated since the day I initially applied. Does anyone know how large their cohort is? I heard it's usually around the 20s & someone on FB told me the year she applied it was exceptionally larger than normal (40s).

So I am not sure exactly how many they choose from the cohort. From when I spoke to Aramik he told me they only except 200 applications, and from there they interview 50 or so nurses. And I think each unit typically hires like 2-4 new grads, depending on the units needs.

I'm not technically a Cedars employee, but I've been lucky enough to have been drafted as one of the student nurse workers to work at one of their vaccine clinics. It's only been a few short months, but you know what, you may be right. That could be the reason why I may have been contacted in the first wave, since I'm partially in their system as a contracted per diem student worker.

@Kevin - I picked OR first (I know, risky, but I really really wanted surgery) and med surg 2nd because I want to learn allllll the most fundamental nursing skills. Ahhh, I was really eyeing that Step Down Cardiac unit though. If they allowed a 3rd choice, I might have gone for that one. There's never a dull moment in step down and cardi was always my jam in nursing school. I even took an ECG licensing class just for fun to prep for school.  I wish you all the best and hope you get into your first choice!!

No as of today no, I just received the one from yesterday about my connectivity test.

I did recieve another email about the connectivity test and it said I should find out next week what unit I will be interviewing with. And on my application it says im under consideration and its says it was last updated June 3rd.

Congrats! Can I ask if you work at Cedars-Sinai or if you have previous inpatient experience? And was the second email from talent acquisition?

Yes I work for Cedars, I have for the past 4 years. And yes it was from the talent acquisition.
