CCSF RN Spring 2016 Lottery

Published

Hi all-

I made this thread for everyone hoping to get into CCSF's spring 2016 RN program, so we can keep each other updated.

This would be my 4th attempt in getting into the program since I finished my prereqs and gen ed in 2011, got my LVN license in 2013 because after my first 2 failed attempts, I figured I might as well get my LVN while waiting to get into the RN program.

I submitted my application in person today because I was told I'd be put in two different lottery pools (one for regular enrollment and one for advanced placement for lvns) which could increase my chances of getting in, and needed to have my license verified in person. This would be my first time applying for the advanced placement, because I'd rather not skip a sem so I can benefit from taking the courses to refresh my memory. Are there any of you fellow lvns who've tried applying through both the regular enrollment and the Advanced placement, and can tell me about their experience/how the process works?

I was also told the reason why they won't be posting results online ever anymore is due to HIPAA or privacy of the applicants/future students, which is very much understandable. We should expect to hear back for results November or December! And so the waiting game begins..Good luck to us all! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

On the last thread they mentioned close to 400 applied last sem, hopefully way less this sem í ½í¹í ¼í¿»

Just applied for the first time for spring as well. I was wondering what is the exact process CCSF does for the lottery? I've only ever been to Skyline and CSM, so I'm like brand new to CCSF.

They put the applicants' names in a pool and let their computer system generate a random numerical order, the first 50 names are reviewed and if any of those first 50 are somehow not qualified for any reason, they keep going down the list..last sem there were 400+ applicants, it's really all about getting lucky in getting placed on the first 50 list..

Hello! I also applied for spring & this is my 3rd attempt. I was #137 the first time & in the 300s the last two times... I really hope 3rd times a charm. I turned my app in on the last day & they said they will notify by nov/dec. I already took my teas, so that's one less thing to worry about! Good luck everyone!

Hi _Sunshine:) there's an option to take teas prior to getting in? Can you give us more info?

Yes. You can sign up on your own on the ATI website, but you will have to pay $60-$80. If you wait for the school to invite you to take the test I think it's free, but not sure.

Great, thanks for the info! did you buy the book to study prior to testing?

Yes. I studied for a few weeks & the study guide covered everything you need to know. I recommend purchasing it, but I know a few ppl that didn't purchase the study guide & still scored high on the test.

I suggest studying the ATI book and taking the online practice test after--it's pretty similar to the actual test.

Great thanks for the tip:) so the testing itself will also be online or do I need to go to an ATI testing center? We used ATI for my LVN program and I used their comprehensive book to study for the nclex as well:)

Specializes in CCRN.

Hi everyone, just checking in, I too applied to the nursing program. Please fill me in if you guys hear anything! From what I have read on previous threads on this school is that they inform you via snail mail.

Will definitely do, I was told we should get the letters by oct or nov..sounds about right since I got the denial letter 2 months after the application deadline last sem..
