Hey!

I just wanted to start a thread because there is so little info out there on how to study for the CCRN exam! I took it today and passed but tried to find information about how people studied, what they studied and how long they studied for! Everything I found was super outdated or didn’t have any info on it! So hopefully this can be helpful for others ?

I studied very hard. I took several weeks to prepare. I found the Laura Gasparis Von Frolio videos helpful but do not rely on them as your soul study material. Some of the stuff she said aren't on the test actually were.

I did not like most of the books but did find Barrons CCRN review book helpful they also have note cards that my co-workers shows me. Those were excellent. I found PASS CCRN too cumbersome as they used a lot of A&P review that was really not helpful. Too much info. In the end if you prepare each section with a good understanding of critical care pathways, you should do okay. Also with each question you take, understand why each answer is right but also why the other options are wrong or not as right. Good luck!

Thanks for this tip, a lot of people testify to Barron as being the best study guide.

The CCRN exam was a difficult exam however manageable

As of 2021 you need to answer at least 83 questions correctly to pass. I took the exam this month.

I used several different resources for the exam. Looking back, though, the one that I only really needed was the PASS CCRN question bank. I focused on areas that I was not as familiar with (cardiac). I also read every single rational and test taking tip for each question, even the ones I got write. The questions here most closely mirrored the actual CCRN test and it was hands down the best study material.

I’m currently using Pass CCRN question bank for practice, but not sure if I would be better with ACCN practice question bank. Has anyone use both, how do you compare it?

Hi,

I just took the exam yesterday and passed with an 92. I used the Barrons book and listened to Laura Gasparis video. I took all the practice tests for each chapter and review, retake to score at least 80 as per recommendation. However when it came to practice exams I only scored 43 and 56. The actual ccrn exam was a lot easier than Barrons test prep. So don't be discouraged.

I passed the Adult CCRN today! I got 105 questions right (you only need 83 correct answers to pass). I'm so glad it's over but here to say if you've started studying or thinking about obtaining it ... it's definitely obtainable!

I utilized the Barron's book (a great refresher and comes with lots of questions in the book as well as two exams online), Laura Gasparis DVD's, AACN CCRN practice questions, and Evolve Pass CCRN practice questions. I also created note cards to drill hemodynamic values into my head.

All in All, if you study regularly you should be able to pass it. I started out initially getting 60 percent on practice exams but closer my exam date I was getting scores in the high 80s.

Good Luck !
