CCRN exam

Published

Wondering if anyone has recently taken the CCRN exam. How was it? I can imagine that it is tough. What book did you use to study (if any @ all). Thanx

Try to find a friend or co-worker from your unit that has recently taken the test and see if they have the Gasparis dvd. I borrowed it from a friend and spend a few weeks watching, took questions from PASS CCRN and did very well on the test

You can get the Laura Gasparis DVDs at www.greatnurses.com

Not cheap, but definitely worth the $$--she gets to the point and teaches you what you need to know for the test.

Good luck!

For those of you that suggested the Laura Gasparis's DVDS, could you tell where you got them? I looked online @ Borders, Amazon, and Ebay. I only found audio cassettes. Thanks:nuke:

You can find them in great nurses.com:typing

I would not waste money on Gasparis' tapes. If you can get them free, sure they're worth watching. Otherwise, just use the cd that comes with Pass CCRN. The questions are almost exactly like the test with the same level of difficulty. If you can pass those at say 80%, you'll pass the actual test which requires about 71%

Okay, so I have been using the PASS CCRN! book to start studying and it is so much info. it tends to bogg me down. Do most of you that have taken it already find it more helpful to just do question after question on the DVD and Laura Gasparis books or do you suggest going through the PASS CCRN book page by page? I don't want to waste my time and I take it Nov. 12th

Help!!!

I say just go right to the cd-com and answer questions.

If you are deficient in an area, you may need to do a focused study, but the CD-rom gives explanations and there is only so much you need to know on a given topic when they're going to ask just one or two questions.

Make sure you know your cardiac though including failure, shock, ECG, ... It's a major part of the test

I had 4 questions that asked in only slightly different ways how to identify inferior mi on a 12 lead.

I took the new exam. it was full of hemodynamics. large test! It was all worth it though!
