:confused: I'm going to be taking the CCM Exam for the first time this Fall, and would like to hear from those who have taken it; i.e. what study materials (if any), did you find useful, and which areas of the test were the hardest? Thanks!:wink2:

Let's see -

I read the Case Manager's Handbook 3rd edition- was not impressed- skipped lots of this and felt she was trying to promote her business model more than anything

Case Managers Study Guide by Denise Fattorusso

Also the CMSA Core Curriculum for Case Management by Suzanne K Powell

And used the CCM Flashcards from Mo Media. That way I could do a quick review and they are easy to carry around. These are basically repeats of what's in the above books but I found easy to use for review. Once you read the book it's hard to go back through and find stuff you may want to re-read

Read every book cover to cover.

I was surprised how easy the test was. I felt very unprepared when I went. Was afraid there would be lots of questions on meds, treatments, etc.

It was mostly principles and laws, regulations, insurance info about HMO,PPO, Medicare, Work Comp.

Course I've been told they chage each time. Good luck

For anyone who's taken the test recently, I am scheduled to take the test in March. I have been studying like crazy. I have the Case Managers Study Guide, Prime Inc study guide and have subscribed to the Casemanagerexam site to recieve practice questions daily. Any other suggestions? Am I on the right track?

I think that you will be fine. I thought the test was very reasonable. I was able to recall on my nursing experience. I thought the Case Manager Handbook-the one by Fatturosa and Campion (sp) was a GREAT study tool. I studied less than 2 weeks prior to the exam, prayed and that was all she wrote. I wouldn't get into paying for websites, expensive study modules, etc. The key is to ascertain what the question is asking you. I hope this helps.

:nurse:Hi I just took the test and feel pretty good about it, sure I passed. I used the 900 questions cd like some of you sugessted and tossed the books. that seemed to help. And oh, Yeah---Medicare, ADA...yadda yadda yadda. Total time studying....48 hours....total years as a UR/CM 10. My brain still hurts. I cant drive past a railroad without thinking about how great their insurance is or the water and thinking about Longshoremen? Am I losing it? Please if you all would, and are on Facebook....visit the Chelsea King Memorial Facebook page and help change laws about those who prey on our children.

Did you take it yet> I am scheduled for end of this month however, due to a lot of lifes difficulties have not studied and feel I am going in blind. Is is worth it to take it to get the test ideas and if fail, just take it aghain? If you took it already, how was it? I have done disability,wc and now auto but dont' feel I know enough about anything?

Just took my test. I can honestly say that the test was fair. I also want to say that one can not study for this exam by study guides, software, books, and Prep courses alone. You must know all of this stuff. I have been studying since November 2009. Looking back, I wish I would not have focused on studying so much I feel like I put my family on the back burner to STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! To go into the the test full of confidence and leave saying WTH! Go figure.

The test is unpredictable. There are several versions of the exam. My exam covered a braod spectrum, but it was really psych driven I would advise the CCMexam.com and reading the book. That is all i can say. the fairness of the test is basically the coverage of the information in the book. CCM handbook that is. I just feel llike i recall reading the matrial, but i could not remember the answer.

I take it tomorrow -- was there alot of regulatory questions as this is my weakest knowledge.
