 I'm going to be taking the CCM Exam for the first time this Fall, and would like to hear from those who have taken it; i.e. what study materials (if any), did you find useful, and which areas of the test were the hardest? Thanks!:wink2:

ARRRRRGH. Still no results.

Checked the dashboard..results will be ready the first week in February.

I'll be taking the CCM exam this March, Anyone know any good prep class for this test? I have read 2 study guide, does not seem to help much at all.

Hi I checked the dashboard and the exam results were not posted. I checked for my name and found it in the "certificant database". I PASSED...praise God. I prayed that God would go before me and give me wisdom. The only thing I studied was A Case Manager's Study Guide by Denise Fattorusso and Campion Quinn, 3rd Edition. The best preparation was using their CD rom to go over questions. It was a GREAT tool. Also, be sure to study the definitions on the CCM website as well as go over the practice questions on the CCM website. I hope this helps and I pray that you pass as well.

I took mine 12/16/09 and was told results by mid Feb. Good luck to all. Mine really did not seem as difficult as I was afraid it would be. Hope that does not mean I major bombed out.

Hey, you passed as well..CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!:yeah:

I haven't read all the responses so my apologies if this has been posted...is there a website or something that has a list of recommended study? Can anyone tell me what they found helpful in studying for the exam? Thanks.

Hi Bird of Paradise,

The only study guide i used was a cd from sold from Certi Step.

I was advised by an instructor on CCM Case Management who is hired by Major hospitals accross the country (one of which i work here in South Florida) to teach and or lecture on guiding staff on becoming CCM certified. I wasn't interested in it at first.....but when i realized the power of the CCM and the doors it could possibly open, i resorted to my notes from her lecture and found the information regarding the CCM CD that she had recommended.

She recommended (with confidence) that i purchase the CD.

The CD has 1003 questions (lol, don't know why they throw in the extra 3 questions) and has self testing options....among other nice options on the disk...IT DOES COST $249. I KNOW IS COSTLY....BUT THEY ARE SO CONFIDENT IN THE CD THAT THEY OFFER A MONEY BACK GAURANTEE (SEE THE WEBSITE HOME PAGE TO THE LEFT). YOU REALLY CAN'T BEAT THAT.

the direct link to their website and the CCM product is http://www.certistep.com/shop/10Browse.asp?Category=Case%20Management%20and%20Rehabilitation%20Certifications

I studied no book or any other material..i went over the disk twice completely.

1. I first went thru the disk once blindly (all 1003 questions).....whatever i got wrong i marked them down on paper (lol this paper became my bible).

2. I then went thru the entire disk again but only went over what i had gotten wrong the first go round..

3. Then i focussed on those questions that just WOULD NOT STICK (they're always those questions that simply won't stick in my brain).

4. Then i took an actual practice test with 180 question from all 6 sections from the CD.

5. THATS IT..I THEN SAT THE TEST on dec 12th 2009.....I DID GIVE MYSELF 4 MONTHS TO DO ALL THIS. THIS IS HOW I APPROACHED THE TEST...YOU MAY HAVE A DIFFERENT STYLE....WHATEVER WORKS FOR YOU.

funny thing though, about 80% of the test was almost common sense questions (eg. would you: (a)scream at the client (b) tell the client to F* off LOL ©ignore the client or (d) question the client as to what was going on in their lives that made them feel they way they did....OBVIOUSLY d) is the correct answer....you see where i comming from...the other 20% of the exam were stuff/info you need to know..medicare/mcd/hmo/etc......

hope this all helped...

you, like i, seek advice when needed..a sign of determination.....thus i feel you will do just fine...good luck.

any more questions just ask me....MAYBE I COULD SELL YOU MY DISK FOR A DISCOUNT...LOL...LET me know...but unlike the website; i can't offer you a money back guarantee..LLOLLOLLOL.

Thanks Dread, if you are in the certificant database you passed. I found out Thursday and I was soooo excited. I gave my boss and copy of the printed certificate and my title was changed immediately and she submitted for my bonus. My job offers a bonus for CCM certification and they pay you for the cost of your exam if you pass. I hope your place of employment offers something as well.

Hi Birds of Paradise,

I agree with Dread, most of the questions I was able to answer were as a result of practicing in so many different areas of nursing: acute, long term care, home health etc. A lot of it was common sense. I can honestly tell you, i prayed, studied for about two weeks, and felt thoroughly prepared. I did come across some questions in which I had no idea what the answer was and I just looked at the wording in the question and was able to pull out the only correct answer. The test was straightforward. I never felt like there were "two" right answers. When i came out I really felt like i had PASSED or was really stupid. I then became afraid because most of the people I had spoken with had nothing positive to say about the test. I am the clinical trainer for my place of employment and during my years of training, I have learned the art of breaking down a question to find the only possible answer. I plan on setting up a CCM training class at my place of employment. I would start studying the book by Faturroso (sp) and answering the questions on the CD. I pray that you pass as well.

OH, Birds of Paradise,

I also wanted to tell you that this is where I almost messed up, as a nurse, we always assess first but keep in your mind as a casemanager you identify first...that was important for this test.
