Is a 3-day case management course worth it?
I donot think that it is worth it to spend that much money. I have been in case management for almost two years. I went to an insurance company after being at the bedside for 10 years. I did not have any experience as a case manager. After working a year as a case manager I was eliglible to sit for the case manager certification exam. I took the test and passed. So my advice is to search for jobs in the insurance industry. The requirements for my job were to have five years of varied experience. I work from home now so I am very grateful for the oppurtunity that was provided to me.

Please Help with Certification Info
I studied the book A cases managers study guide -preparation for certification by Denise Fattorusso. It also has a disk that has over 900 practice questions included. I ordered it off amazon.

You do not have to take a course if you qualify to sit for the exam.

Need help to decide on new job
If you plan on working for the company for two years than I don't see a problem with signing the contract. Companies invest a lot of time and money in training new graduates so I am sure they want to ensure that they get a return on their investment. I signed a contract for both my LPN and RN new graduate positions and I did not have a problem because i planned to work for the company long term. If you donot plan on working for the company long term then I do not recommend sign it.

Asking for my old job back
Stay encouraged Destiny 12. I did the same thing about a year and a half ago. I had been at the bedside for almost nine years and i was burned out. I resigned without another job thinking that it would be easy to find a nonbedside position. Oh was i wrong. But after being off about three months and applying for over 50 jobs and going on several interviews I got a job with the insurance company as a case manager. This is my dream job. I work four ten hour shifts and off weekends and one day through the week. I know that it was God that opened this door for me. I also passed the case manager certification recently as well. Yeah me!!!!!!!!! I know God has great things for me. Yes I did get depressed during that time because I could not go back to the hospital because I hurt my back. A door will open for you just do not give up. Also I figured out for me that my resume nor interview skills were not up to part. So I did a yahoo seach and got tips on updating my resume and interviewing tips. But all in all it was GOD.

Thinking of becoming a case manager
I went on their website and applied. It took about a month to get an interview. But after interviewing I was offered a position the next week. The position required five years of varied experience and I will be sitting for the CCM exam in March. You can go to different job search websites like career builders, simply hired and indeed and enter case management and your state and see what the results are. You can also go the the individual insurance companies websites and view what is available. But all in all I owe the credit to God because he opened this door for me. I know I applied for over 50 positions that were not bedside positions before this position was offered to me.

Thinking of becoming a case manager
I currently work for bcbs and have been for the last year and a half. I love my job. I have been a nurse for 10 years prior to working for this company and all of my experience has been at the bedside. I got burned out at the bedside and this was a refreshing change. I am still working from the office but will get the oppurtunity to telecommute next month. I do not miss bedside care and I love the schedule. I work 4 10 hour shifts. No weekends or holidays. I hope to be with this company a long time. I make about the same as I was in the hospital. So that makes it a lot better. No, we are not confined to our computers with someone monitoring our every move. As long as your tasks are up to date there is no problems.
