Ccc nursing program: Fall 2013 City of Chicago

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hey Guys/Girls,

I thought I would start a thread for those of us who have applied for the Fall 2013 Nursing Program at the City Colleges of Chicago. Please post if you have any info on when acceptance letter/email will be sent. I think this will be helpful for applicants as far as how the acceptance process is coming along as well as support through the waiting period.

Hope to hear from you all soon!

Yea i was accepted to Daley and I've received emails regarding all of the requirements as well as the uniform sizes, prices, & a date for fitting. I would think that all of the schools would be on the same page but apparently that's not the case .

I was accepted at Malcolm X bit have not gotten the email about uniforms...we also got the health requirements email later than everyone else.

Is anyone using an ipad, laptop or tablet in the fall? I was trying to see if I need one and was thinking about the samsung galaxy note. Also wondering if we will be able to purchase the e-book version of our textbooks.

You can purchase e-book versions independant of the paper textbook. They bundle the books together in the bookstore so it's kind of hard to figure out what the ISBN numbers are.

My advice, start with just the bare minimum. I can't express how much I regret the $1200 I spent on books and only used maybe 3 of them.

I was accepted to Daley too, but Truman was my first choice and Malcolm x was my second. Do u know anything about the Daley program, and how good it is in comparison with Truman and Malcolm x?

I would take Daley over Malcom X. As far as I know, only Truman and Daley are accredited.

Actually, malcolm x is accredited.

Thanks for the advice. Do you know if they use the same books every year for the most part?

Malcolm X is not listed on the NLN or CCNE websites - the two major nursing accreditation organizations. Of the few hospitals in the Chicago area that still hire ADNs, they require one of those accreditations (NLN usually since CCNE is more for BSN programs).

I would not pick Malcolm X if I had a choice. Whatever accreditation they currently have, it's not worth much. Those accepted to Malcolm X's program should know that going in.

For the most part. You only need the Fundamentals books first year. Second year you will need to get an OB book, Psych book, Gero book, and Peds book. For Med-surg second year, you just use Lewis.

can anyone who has been accepted to malcolm x log into their ccc email? i can't log in because i keep getting an error message and i need to know the details for registration on july 1st.

I have a problem!! The clerk's( not sure if this is the right name) office is backed up on background checks and so the Illinois part of my file is still in a "pending" status!! The office told the background check people that they should be done by July 18th. I ordered it June 14th. Do you guys think this will hurt me to register? I had my background check in January and it came back fine in 2-3 days. This sucks!!! I don't know what to do.
