CCC-NP Waitlist-2013

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

I wanted to start another thread rather than tying up the other one. :)

So, I figure we can post our stats, and our waitlist number (when we get them) and use this thread to discuss what we can and/or plan to do next.

For me:

  • 89% on TEAS-V
  • 3.6 GPA/NGPA (all my courses are required for the program)
  • B- in A&PI
  • B- in Chemistry
  • The rest of my grades were A/A-
  • I don't know my number on the waitlist yet

I have an A- right now in A&PII, I'm not sure if it will be necessary to take A&PI again to get a better grade.

I suppose I could retake Chemistry. Or take Bio-Chemistry which is often required for a BSN program. A better grade in this would raise my GPA.

I could also retake the TEAS-V to get a higher result as well.

I'm curious how many were admitted off the waitlist last year.

Commence whining and wallowing in self-pity:

I have been nose to the grindstone for the last year and a half. I have been driven by only one purpose and one goal, to get into THIS program. I didn't apply anywhere else. I have already survived one nursing program for 18 months and finished in the top of my class. I have agonized my entire school career over any grade less than an A-.

I have sacrificed time with my children (five of them, ages 17, 15, 11, 10 and 7), I have neglected my fiance, my friends, my extended family, my house and my health. I have been hyperfocused and stressed. I have sacrificed work and therefore money in order to commit more time to studying. I have denied my kids the material things they want.

I promised my children, my friends and my family that ALL of their support and their own sacrifices to help me achieve this goal would be worth it.

Telling all of these people that I love that I didn't get a seat was the worst news I have had to deliver. I feel like I have let them down. I have let myself down. I know it would be easiest to just wait and see what number I am, maybe I will still have a chance. Waiting and seeing is not where my skill set lies. Getting things done. Setting a goal and achieving it. That's what I do. I have never NOT accomplished any goal I have set to accomplish. I am type A and OCD.

I do the math in my head; 160 seats, 75% by rank 25% by lottery so 120 seats ahead of me by rank, 40 seats ahead of me by lottery. And who knows where I'll end up on the waitlist. Not only am I not in the top, I could very well be at the very bottom. It's really hard for me to swallow this. It makes me question my ability to be a vehicle to get to where I want to go. When I have done my very best, with more effort invested than I ever have, and it's not good enough. It rattles a person's confidence.

The only thing that will make me feel better is establishing and beginning the work of moving toward a new goal, which I am still trying to figure out. I was caught off guard by not considering the idea that I wouldn't get a seat. This is my own fault and I will from here out always have a Plan A, B, C through Z!!

I've been knocked off-kilter a bit but I'll get back straight again soon enough.

No waitlist letter yet. : ( Still waiting patiently. Has anyone else received their waitlist letter?

I heard letters were sent today! I'd give it till Thursday for them to start arriving.

Thank you Motosteph for the information. It's good to hear they at least went out. Oh and congrats on being number 10 that is awesome. Other posts have said 10 and below have a great chance. Best of luck to you. ; )

Motosteph, how did you find out your number? I haven't gotten mine yet. I was going to check today. But maybe I'll just wait.

HelenaHandBasket: I had to call the office because I have an appt with an advisor and need to know my number by then so we know what to talk about.

My letter came today. 18 out of 125. :blackeye: Does anyone know how many Capital took from the waitlist last year?

I received my wait list number for NVCC today...#2!!!!!! Does anybody know how many people off the wait list usually get in? Im super excited but don't want to get my hopes up too high!

Number 2 out of how many? I was just wondering how many people are on the waitlist for NV. I have heard that the top 10 almost always get a seat, so congrats!!!!!!

I heard back from the admissions counselor. He said he's seen it happen that they have gone down as far as 18 (and higher) on the waitlist. It just depends on the year.

He also suggested I wait to take Micro until Sp 14 and just take retake A&P I in the Fall since getting a low grade in Micro would affect my GPA. :( The thing is, I HAVE to stay a full-time student or else I lose my full-time status with my student loan. So whatever I take risks lowering my GPA right? Unless I just take courses that aren't directly related to my NGPA?

I'll just take the Public Speaking, Religion etc courses for the BSN in the meantime. Well, there's my plan I guess. :) Here's to hoping this is another year they take 23 off the waitlist!!

I noticed people saying they got their waitlist letters. I still have not gotten mine and it is thursday. If it doesn't come by tomorrow or Saturday at the latest who do I contact the school or Hartford? Does anyone know?

I received my wait list from NCC today ...# 5 out of 99 does anybody know

how many people from the wait list get in

I talked to someone today at school and they got their waitlist letter and they had said once your on the waitlist it says in order to stay on the waitlist you need to have A&P II, Psychology and Micro all done before June 1st and this goes for the people who have been accepted as well. What I don't understand is why would they accept people into the program that haven't finished these classes. They should make these a requirement to apply. Does this mean that they start moving people off the waitlist that do not have these classes done and move people up the waitlist. What about the people that have been accepted and are not able to get these classes done in time to start the program. I have finished all the required classes on the required program list. I am still waiting for my waitlist letter (hopefully I get it tomorrow). I just wanted to know how all this works with the waitlist.
