I submitted my application for Essex Day program- Spring 2014. I am pretty hopeful but nervous. I put all my eggs in the ccbc basket and didn't apply anywhere else. It is so convenient and so much cheaper than other places I really want to go there. But now I am thinking maybe I should have diversified a little.
It seems like a long road just to get to this point but it really is just the beginning.
I'm also kind of unsure as to what we should complete prior to orientation. It seems we have to wait until after orientation to get a physical, vaccines, drug test, and background check since they didn't provide the paperwork in our acceptance packet. I'm assuming we will learn more about dosage at orientation but it couldn't hurt to purchase any books you know for sure you'll need. The acceptance packet seems quite vague and eludes that we should hold off on most things until orientation, which is surprising considering it's over a month away...
I just double checked and I see no info about the dosage course in the packet, contrary to what the CCBC website says. Co:
After Provisional Admission Into the Nursing Program
OK- I just called and spoke to Gwen Jones at Essex and she said they changed the way they do dosage- they will explain it at orientation but we will do it in our first semester. We will not need to pass the test before semester 1 but we will need to before the other semesters. I assume it is the same for Catonsville.
Hi Everyone!! I am currently in the nursing program at Catonsville just wanted to wish everyone good luck on your new semester. I don't know if you have had your orientation yet but if you haven't and you have questions I will be happy to answer them.
Thanks pinkkupkake! Our orientation is in mid-December.
They will give you so much info in orientation! I saw you guys asking about dosage. When I started the dosage exam for fundamentals was maybe either 2 or 3 weeks after we started the semester. So dosage isn't really considered a Seperate class it's pretty easy stuff as long as you know the formulas. They will show you how to prepare for the test and what book you will need to study.
Hey rubyagnes- We actually got out around 3. Orientation was good. I was thinking of you because at the end of our orientation 2 recent graduates came to speak to us. Someone asked about how long it took to get a job after passing the nclex. I think one said she graduated in May and got a job that summer. The other one said she was holding out for an ICU position which are hard to get and it took her about 7 months.

Does anyone know when we have to take the Dosage exam? Should we have already bought the book to study from or do you think they will tell us at Orientation?
