Published

Just wondering if anyone else on here has applied to CCAC for the spring 2011 semester?

fingerprinting results amazingly came back today, exactly one week after having them taken

oh wow, nice. Have you had them done recently? I had to have them done for my job before, apparently if you're already in the system you get the results faster.

good site for your stethoscopes: www.allheart.com. I got the 3M Littmann Master Cardiology Stethoscope

What made you choose the master over the soft touch? Can't decide!

Hi Meowmixer,

I got the master stethoscope only because my brother is an RN, and that is what he suggested to me. He has one and says he loves it. lol.

And, yes, I had fingerprinting done back in I about a year ago when I was working a government job. However, it was done by print cards instead of on the computer. I don't know if that makes any difference. Did you get yours back yet?

Yup got mine today as well, apparently the childline one takes awhile to get back, hopefully not though :) Few things down, many more to go!

I'm in 101 now at the North Campus.... and fyi if you're in the evening/weekend program, be prepared to teach yourself the material....the in-class lecture and lab time are not enough to teach you what you need to know, daylight program gets alot more lecture/lab time. So if you're in the "Web" program....Be prepared, you will be teaching yourself a bulk of the material..... can't wait for this term to be over, totally over this term.....hope I keep my B+!

Aye most nursing programs are like that though, the one i attended in illinois (to expensive to stay out there) was 5 days a week and you still taught yourself most of the material, there's just to much altogether. I'm expecting no less going into this one. But i wish you luck :)

To anyone thats going to allegheny health department to get their titers, if you haven't done it yet get a move on! Got mine today and they said it takes 3-4weeks to get the results.

I've gotten everything back and taken care of (fingerprint, childline, 2 step tb test, etc.) except for the titers. My blood was drawn for them on Nov 17th and I havent gotten any results back although I expect them this week or next.

I have to tell my current employer what my hours will be for next semester. Anyone have ideas as to what times we have class and clinicals?

If you check the ccac website they have a couple classes on there, but all it really does is give you an Idea of when one class may be. The clinicals and labs i'm sure are going to be separate but under the same course number. When is your registration for your campus? Going next Monday i'll let you know if they tell us anything.

I got my 2-step tb done as well, and had blood drawn for titers on 11-19. Sent in form for my uniform (don't know if I will get them in time). I have CPR coming up. Drug test/physical done. Just waiting on my child clearance (I think-- the paper that I got back says they are my fingerprint results, but also says childline at top. I'm confused lmao).

As far as clinical times, etc: who knows? For some odd reason they seem to try to keep everything shrouded in mystery until the last moment. I figure that is what you will find out when you go to meet for registration on the 15th or 20th.

BTW: does anyone know if we are REQUIRED to get our uniforms from American Discount Uniform? They said it is going to be at least a month-- and I just sent the form yesterday. Scrubs are scrubs are scrubs, aren't they? As long as they are navy blue? She said they don't have any in stock; you have to go through the ordering process. :( Seems a little cumbersome to me, just me .02.

Welllll, scrub wise i know the tops have a ccac logo, the bottoms it shouldn't matter since they give you so many options but you just have to make sure they're the exact dark blue that the tops are. I didn't think we had to order the uniforms yet, calu has uniform fitting this monday, so i'm waiting until then.

I got my childline clearances and the fingerprinting clearances. The fingerprinting says *office of children, youth, and families* from the commonwealth of pa at the top. The childline clearance says *pa child abuse history clearance* really big at the top.

Aye, and they wait until the last moment to give you clinical times because there's so many nursing schools in the area they are all fighting for clinical spots. It's not really ccac thats taking their time it's the hospitals, ccac has to wait for the schedule from them.

I ask a lot of questions so i'm just a wealth of information :)

But i do have one...if anyone knows. Will the CCAC students going to calu have to pay calu's parking fee? I believe it's $400...thats a little steep. All of our classes are on the opposite side of all the parking meters and i assume we're going to have long labs/lectures so I was just curious.
