CCAC Spring 2015 Hopefuls

Published

Hi All!

Just sending out a good luck huzzah to everyone applying for the Spring 2015 cohort at the Community College of Allegheny County.

We can start applying tomorrow and the the deadline is August 15.

I am all done with my pre-reqs and co-reqs, so am excited to get this application process rolling. I am going tomorrow to meet with an advisor to be sure all of my ducks are in a row.

Anyone else out there applying?

Math has never, ever been my strong point. That's why I'm worried. All this time, money and effort only to fail out because of a math test just scares me I guess

Oh, ok. Relax, I bet you will do better than you think. :)

It's drug calculations I think you mean and they're not too bad. I'm bad with math too. Our packets had some dates for drug calculation tutoring if you need it too. It's basic algebra problems.

It's a 25 question test, you will have weekly assignments to do every week leading up to the test so you learn what will be on the tested, if you fail the first test you can take it again, if you fail the second you are dismissed from the program, it's nothing to worry about, it's easy!!

It's mostly figuring out the drug dose the question is asking and filling in the line on the syringe, and a couple conversions between household and metric conversions, and some stuff about insulin! I just passed my first semester! Thank god, it's been a bumpy ride but I am anxious for semester 2, just stay focused and good luck to everyone! Take it 1 day at a time!!

Thank you for the tip m2425. What other advice do you have? :)

Are we able to buy the ATI used? It lists it as an option on the bookstore's website but I thought those were codes to use online...

Idk... Interesting.

Does anyone know which books come in the bundle for the Boyce Day program? The bookstore website doesn't list the prices for the books included or how many books the bundle includes.

RSL17 Iam trying to figure out the books for Boyce Day. It's giving me a headache

I found the Clinical Simulations for Nursing Education on amazon for pretty cheap, but I really don't want to spend $741.25 if I can find them somewhere else cheaper. I'll let you know if I find out.

I have been trying to figure out the bundle for the Boyce program as well. I emailed the bookstore about individual books in the bundle but haven't heard back yet. I'll post any updates if I hear anything!
