CCAC just posted the application packet for the fall 2013 nursing program. Just wondering who else is applying. I have all of my pre-reqs and co-reqs done except for micro which I am taking this semester along with medical terminology and infection control. I'm also applying to St. Margret's. Anyone else?
Do we still have to pay for the drug test? or was the cost of the test included in our CertifiedBackround fee?
Let's blame the school's ambiguous and incomplete language in the mailed documentation. Maybe they should look into hiring a technical writer/documentation professional, instead of delegating it to a secretary....
The CP site calls the background checks "included," and CCAC lists them, along with the drug test, as part of the "CV83" CP package code. But CCAC also lists a fee for each background check, and, sure enough, those fees are payable in addition to the CP registration fee of $129. But was it significant that CCAC did NOT mention a fee for the drug test? Yes, as it turns out. Per my phone conversation today with a CP CSR, the drug test fee IS included in the CP registration fee. A little shopping around for urine drug tests (uh, who does that?) showed them in the $50-$70 range, so about half the CP registration fee goes for something more concrete than online document management.
Also not made explicit was the purpose of the other package code, "CV83dt - drug test only." Normally, nobody should ever use this; I'm guessing that it's there for people who screw up and get tested too soon, forcing a repeat.
A last caveat: the drug test registration doesn't work quite as described. You don't get an email from Quest; instead, you get an email notice from CP that you have a new PM on their site. Log in, open the PM and download the attached PDF. Page 1 is a filled-in registration form for you to print and take to the lab; pages 2-4 list Quest locations. You must be tested July 22-30 only, but you can order the test (=register) anytime, because the registration is good for 4 months.

I don't know if it'll be different for you (you're LPN to RN, right?) but in my case, everything except for the drug test is due July 19, with orientation August 14.
