Hi Everyone, I just got my acceptance letter today for ccac/calu spring 2010! I thought that it would be a good idea to start a thread for CALU. So that all of us that got accepted can get aquainted since we will be classmates and we can use this thread to share information about CALU & the program..............I am looking forward to meeting everyone!!:D

Im new to this site and have been looking for advice on here for where i am at today as a nursing student. If you have the time to reply to this, i would love to hear your advice. I am currently at CCAC south have all classes finished except humanities elective, micro, and a&p 2 which im registered to take Spring 2010. I took the NET test Sept 5 2009 and ended up with a %79 composite score. I am getting all my papers ready to apply to CCAC south (as my first choice) and CALU (as my second choice) this january for FALL 2010. I can not find my SCORES anywhere! Ive been looking through all my papers and no luck still. I did call CCAC and they tranferred me to three different people including Melissa at NORTH campus. She ended up tranferring me to Shannon Wallace up at CALU. Shannon is teh one who gave me my NET test at CALU. She emailed me few days ago and said she may have a copy of my NET, but havent heard from her since. Im giving her time to look for it and its so close to xmas. but im worried! really really worried. My GPA stands at 3.29, B in A&P 1. Do you know of anything i could do?

Also can you "inform" me of everything you know about the program. Being that you are accepted and start this January i would love some advice about the program, and things i need to do. Also i was reading your post about the websites where you can get criminal check, child-abuse clearances, etc can you tell me when we need them by?

If for some reason i do not get in to the program for FALL 2010, should i apply to CALU then for the SPRING program? and with CALU, do i have to apply there also being that im at south campus now?

Hi Rebecca, Try not to worry too much about your net, shannon will find it if she has it. If not you can try to contact eri they are the ones who score the net they have a web site. Just keep getting your stuff ready to apply for fall, did you pick up an application packet at south campus? You will need to do that and just follow the checklist that is on there. The clearances and the finger prints will need to be done by a certain time before class starts. All of us that applied for spring were worried that we would not have enough time to complete everything by the deadline because they took so long to let us know we never got our letters until November 13th and then the campus that you were accepted to sends you a packet that has everything in it that you need to get done. We only got 6 weeks to get everthing done. That is why I found out sooner what we needed so that I could get started on it. The child abuse clearance takes the longest I think It took 3 weeks to come in. There is also a physical form that they will send you for your doctor to fill out you will need some shots and a 2 step tb test you should have plenty of time to do those things, there is also a drug screening that they will give you a form for it.

It has to be done within a certain time frame. You will need to take a CPR class for healthcare providers. If you end up going to CALU you do not need to register at CALU bcs you are still a ccac student just taking classes at CALU kind of like an extension of South campus. You can probably get started on clearances if you want too, but they cost about 56.00 all together and they are only good for 2yrs. (I needed mine anyway for my children's school so that I could volunteer) Good Luck on applying, keep me posted. I think that you will be fine and get accepted with everything that you told me. Your net score is good and your gpa is good you get extra points for completing A&P 1. You are right where I was at and I got in! (My gpa was a hair lower than yours and my net score was lower than yours I also had a B in A&P 1). I got my scrubs today. Can anyone tell what shoulder the patch goes on for the lab coat? I have a lab coat already and got just the patch but have no idea where to sew it on.

Also has anyone heard when orientation is gonna be? Also about the book list Shannon said she would have the list before the bookstore is going to try and email the list to everyone.

I got my uniforms last week and I was told we get our clinical bags in class.

I do have a facebook page, for the person who asked.

Also just a reminder.....TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO GET YOUR PAPERWORK IN!!!

Does anyone else have clinical on Tuesdays from 7am-3pm??

Does anyone else have lecture on Wesnesdays from 12pm to 1:50pm???

I do have a facebook page, for the person who asked.

Also just a reminder.....TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO GET YOUR PAPERWORK IN!!!

Did anyone pay by check for their clinical bag and has their check cleared yet? I hate when you have checks out there and it take them for every to deposit them.

Can anyone tell me where the patch for the lab coat goes so I can sew mine on?

Also anyone with facebook PM me so I can add you.

Hi lesli! My check did not clear either. I just got my uniforms today the patch goes on the left sleeve up by the shoulder. I sent you pictures from my blackberry to your email.............Betty

Alright, I need a book list, like now. Is not giving it to us until the last minute their way of ensuring we buy them from the school so we don't have time to look elsewhere or wait on shipping? ...I'm getting frustrated. Buying books on my "todo" list and I can't get it done. errr. :madface:
