Carolinas College Spring 2015 Matriculation

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

I was wondering if anyone on here is anxiously awaiting their Carolinas College Nursing program admissions letter for January 2015 Spring matriculation? I believe they begin sending out letters next Wednesday (06/25/14) and I am so excited!

Does anyone know if the school calls students who are admitted on Wednesday? Or if we must wait for snail mail letters :)

I was also wondering if you are not accepted, how much information Carolinas College will divulge about why?

From the time I interviewed to when I started was at least 6 weeks. I'm PRN so I'm only required to work 24 hours (usually 2 12s) every 6 weeks. I try to work one shift every other week if I can. Base pay for an NA I (which is what I am) is around $10.00/hr. You get more if you work nights and/or weekends.

School is basically full-time. You're in class Mon/Thurs/Fri mornings, clinical prep Mon afternoon, and are in clinical all day Tues/Wed. Add to that clinical paperwork, class assignments, studying for tests, etc -- it's a lot.

As far as PICU and NICU -- you'll take a tour of NICU during your maternity rotation but you don't get to spend any time there. In peds we used to spend one day in PICU but now you spend a day in the peds ED instead. (It may change again so don't hold me to it!)

Oh wow! 6 weeks is a long time. Also, good to know now that a full time job and even being a part time nursing student is too much, if not impossible.

I also just found out that I got into their Pre-Nursing program. I heard that applying for it would be a good back up plan. The only draw back for me is that I have already completed all those courses while I was in college and anatomy was a challenge, as well as the tuition will not be eligible for their 80/20 program.

Hi all. I begin pre-nursing Jan '15 at CCHS. I'm excitedly nervous.?.?. Does anyone know once you're in the nursing program if the courses are offered in the summer? Or only fall/spring? Thank you!

Nur 101 and Nur 202 are only fall/spring start because they're 16 week classes but all other classes are spring/summer/fall.

Hello,

I was accepted into the Fall 2016 program at SPCC. Any advice or recommendations in regards to their program?

Hi, I think you posted on the wrong thread. This is for a different school.

Does anyone know what a sample class time

Is for Nurs 101 and Nurs 202 ?

For 101, class is 16 weeks long. You'll typically have class Mon/Thurs/Fri with clinicals alternating weeks Tues/Wed (you'll have things like sim lab on weeks you don't have clinicals). For 202, class is 8 weeks long with the second 8 weeks (IF you pass the first 8 weeks) for your preceptorship. Tests are every other Friday -- 202 moves FAST! You'll have lecture on Wednesday and the test will be on Friday; you've got to study every day if you want to stay on top of things. You'll have class 2-3 days a week with other days scheduled for sim lab and group projects (when I was there we had 2 group projects; not sure if that has changed).

Would anyone who has been accepted mind sharing there stats? The blind ranking scares me but I am looking to apply for next spring! Thanks in advance!
