Career switch to Nursing

Published

Hey everyone! I've slowly been chipping away at my pre-reqs and got accepted into a BSN program that starts in a few days. I've been in Law Enforcement before but decided I want to help people on a more personal level, so I made the switch to Nursing.

Anyways, just wanted to say hello as I start the fun journey that is Nursing School!

Congrats and welcome! Best wishes to you on your journey towards becoming a nurse. :)

Congrats! It is a big switch. I am sure you will have a lot to contribute to Nursing. You will love the nursing profession.

Congratulations one of the best decisions you could of made!

Very cool! I made the transition from banking to nursing at 30. It can be done. One, if not the best decisions I've ever made. Will you be doing a traditional BSN or accelerated? Just curious. Regardless, good luck to you, and welcome.

I hope you are doing well. I too decided to change careers. Finishing up pre-nursing this year and plan on clinicals Fall 2015. And this is my very first post on Allnurses.

Traditional route. It was very competitive but I got in.

Specializes in ER.

Good luck. I did the Lpn first. If I were to do it again I wouldn't be a paramedic first. I'm now working on my MSN. Best of wishes

Congrats... work hard study hard...

I switched to nursing in my mid-twenties and it was the best career decision I could have made.

With nursing being the largest profession in U.S. the different specialities that you can do as a nurse are almost endless. I have been a nurse in LTC, prison, ICU, PACU, clinic, and the military. I received my MSN/CRNA in 2009, my DNAP in 2013, and I am currently a full-time PhD nursing student while active-duty in the USAF.

Good Luck and remember that learning never stops!

Im currently switching careers to nursing too. Taking pre-reqs at the moment as well. Good luck to you bro.
