Career change: Lawyer to CRNA.

Published

I'm considering a career change from being a lawyer to CRNA. Can someone point me in the direction a non-traditional student would have to take?

Thanks.

RRT2RN2CRNA, you have so many hats! You should run for president.

Omg, I would be the worst president ever...

I would declare every Monday in summer to be a federal holiday.

All meetings would be moved to the back lawn where the BBQ is.

I would bring all the troops home immediately and invite them over for some Coronas.

The White House dress code would ban suits, ties and high heels.

CNN would actually cover real actual new stories.

I would invite Israel, Palestine and Lebanon over for pancakes and say "So what's with all this bombing and stuff?"

Marijuana would be legalized within a week.

And Meth would be gone.

Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan and Nicole Ritchie would be deported under the Annoying Airhead Emigration Act of 2007.

I'd tell Syria and Iran to go scratch.

People would remember there's a continent called Africa.

I'd send Kim Il Jong some contact lenses.

The Kyoto Protocol would be signed.

And all checks from the "Clean" coal lobby would be returned.

And immigrants from Mexico would be welcomed, but only if they bring enough fish tacos and good tequila for all their neighbors with them and pay their taxes.

Everyone would have equal opportuntity to have a loveless marriage.

Stem cell research would be federally funded.

Kids might have a chance to to be functionally literate by 7th grade.

Tibet would be free.

100% tax credit for hybrids.

There would actually be a separation between church and state.

And I might as well put the National Guard in Danskos while I'm at it. (There's no way those big boots can be as comfortable- and they always have to hang around Penn Station carrying those heavy machine guns. I always feel bad for them.)

And then I'd probably resign in like 4 months after I'm offered a sweet travel gig in Southern California that pays more.

Yep. Definitely the worst president ever.

Would probably be assasinated by the red states within a month anyway.

That's Ok. To each their own.

I'm single and a man.

seriously, even though a majority of those things will never happen. I do like how you think and i agree with essentially everything.

I kinda wish dating was like this. People actually said who they are before things get serious. too often do people put on "dating faces" and finally complain about stuff 2 years down the road when you plainly divulged everything to them in the beginning. But, i digress. Nice post, RRT.

Yes... and at *least*, some people should come with a warning label, or a Mr. Yuk sticker or something saying "Noooo... stay awayyyyy"... a radioactive hazmat skull & crossbones sticker with flames shooting out of it.

hehehe....

Finally! A candidate worth voting for!

This statement could be no further from the truth. AAs do NOT have the same job description NOR scope of practice. AAs are very limited in their practice. They MUST be supervised by MDAs. CRNAs require no such supervision in virtually all settings. (There are some, not many, states with restrictions.) An AA has almost zero autonomy.

I had a career before becoming an RN, for the sole purpose of becoming a CRNA. CRNA school so far is great. I wouldn't change a thing. For most of the advice above, I think is great. If you have a life science degree BS, you do not need an BSN for many programs, only an ADN-RN. This is the route i went, as it allowed me to keep my career as I became an RN.

Had a question for you TexasGas...

I read in another forum that you were first a pharmaceutical sales rep before you went on to train to become a CRNA. I was just wondering why you made or are making the switch. I find mylself in a similar position and wanted your perspective...
