Cape Fear CC 2011?

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Any people applied to CFCC for fall of 2011 and waiting for the letters? I did and am going crazy! hoping it will be end of March/early April. Point count reviews are this week.

Yes, I am a very old nurse, LOL. However, I started as a CNA-> LPN->RN. Done a little bit of everything in nursing. Holden Beach is beautiful.

That's great! I would love to get some feedback from you on how to get where I want to be with the least hiccups! I've had my CNA since last October. I was wanting to get some observational experience in the ER or ICU but all the hospitals seem to only be hiring CNA 2's now or unless you have 3-5 years experience. I've held off looking for a job as a CNA until I find out if I get into nursing school or not because I already work full-time as a massage therapist. Eventually, I would like to become an acute/critical care nurse practitioner(if I can get into nursing school!). I'm 35, married with two kids, so I know I don't have all the time in the world right now to devote to everything I would like to do so I'm frustrated because I'd like to dive in there and learn as much as I can.

I'm looking forward to moving to Holden. Been going there every summer, all my life!

Hey everyone,

I am new to this board, but I just wanted to share this with you. I got into the ADN program at CFCC for fall 2011, my point count was 378.5 I got every co-requisite out of the way in 2010, and made straight A's. I also took the ACA class (5 pts) as well as attended the information session (2 points), plus I had high school chemistry (1 pt). Total points for courses was 84. My PSB percentile scores were pretty high:

verbal 99

nonverbal 99

arithmetic 98

spelling 95

science 91

reading 97

vocational adjustment 94

I hope this helps some for those of you wondering about point totals. I am not sure where I stand in the rankings though!! I know several people that got in and haven't finished the co-reqs yet. But if you haven't taken BIO 168 and 169 yet, make sure you do your best the FIRST time, because you cannot retake it for a better grade. I busted my behind to make sure i got A's in everything because of the competition.

Welcome to those of you who will be starting this upcoming fall! I'm heading into my summer semester and will be graduating CFCC as a ADN class of 2012 grad! It is a hard road (thus far) but so worth it! Just remember what is waiting for you at the end.

For those of you who did not get in this round, try the LPN route! You can get some education under your belt before starting the program and you'll be prepared for the type of classwork that comes with the program!

Best of luck to you all!

I was a CFCC hopeful, that ended up getting accepted into BCC instead. From what I've heard the end product is the same. I am anxious about starting like most, everyone says it's sooooooooooooo hard!!! I have heard that BCC students do clinicals at the Grand Strand, which is an hour from my house! Hoping there are some options of have clinicals in town too!

Good luck to everyone still trying to get in somewhere! I am only in by the grace of God:)

I know my daughter did clinicals in North and South Carolina, which I have to say left her better prepared to matriculate into any facility outside the New Hanover net work. Perhaps you could stay with family friends or group together and rent a hotel room the night before clinicals?

Well that makes sense, I never thought of it that way!! Where does your daughter work now?

IN a SNF in another state.

Hello, I'm an alternate for the ADN program. Does anyone know the time and room # for June 21st orientation? I've misplaced my letter. Thanks!

You should be able to contact the nursing department and they should be able to tell you, I'm pretty sure it will be in the same location as last year, which would be in S-002

Thank you for your reply. I ended up finding the letter.

Are you in the program now? If so, how's it like? I was accepted into James Sprunt's program and am hoping that I get called for CFCC. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I am in the program now (3rd semseter!) and I LOVE it!!! It's hard, and time consuming, but so worth it! The instructors are fantastic and very helpful, they all want to see you do well! Good luck to you and hopefully I'll see you in the halls come August!
