Hey Veronica- I'm in an LPN prgram right now and will finish next August. I've called Excelsior and am seriously considering the LPn -Rn program. My thoughts are that I can work as an LPN and practice everything I'm learning in the online courses as I go. Can you give me some insight on this program/things I need to know? I appreciate your feedback as I get mixed reviews on this program. Thanks- Jodi

That's great! I would love to get some feedback from you on how to get where I want to be with the least hiccups! I've had my CNA since last October. I was wanting to get some observational experience in the ER or ICU but all the hospitals seem to only be hiring CNA 2's now or unless you have 3-5 years experience. I've held off looking for a job as a CNA until I find out if I get into nursing school or not because I already work full-time as a massage therapist. Eventually, I would like to become an acute/critical care nurse practitioner(if I can get into nursing school!). I'm 35, married with two kids, so I know I don't have all the time in the world right now to devote to everything I would like to do so I'm frustrated because I'd like to dive in there and learn as much as I can. I'm looking forward to moving to Holden. Been going there every summer, all my life!

Thank you! I'm really nervous about the test. BCCC is going to be a lot closer to me than CFCC because I'm moving to Holden Beach in June, but I'll go wherever I get in! What is your status? Are you already a nurse? That is interesting that they would use the same facilities seeing that they're about 30-40 minutes away from each other. Thanks for your input!

I'm taking the test for Brunswick on Tuesday am for the RN program. There is no wait list for this program. They choose the top 25 scores from the test for admittance. That is their only criteria supposedly.

So are any of you applying to the LPN program? I took my PSB for that yesterday am. The girl I was sitting beside took it last year and said she didn't find out until June that she didn't get in!!!! When I signed my intent form to apply the counselor said that a lot of applicants that didn't make it into the RN program was applying for the LPN program. Just curious if you all were going to wait until next year again? I wasn't really thrilled to apply for the LPN program, but I thought I would exhaust all of my options.

Hello there! I'm actually moving to Oak Island(right down the road from Supply) in June. I've applied at BCCC for their ADN program and I'm taking the entrance exam in April. I think the school counselor said around 250 people applied last year. You will need to have BIO 168 & 169 to finish the ADN curriculum but you don't need it to be accepted into the program. They are the only school that I know of that judges entrance into the program solely on test scores. I have everything I need for the entire ADN curriculum except for the nursing classes...even my BSN! Anyway, the staff are very friendly there(thank goodness!),because the campus and website are not very user-friendly in my opinion. I'm a little frustrated with this school though because I've tried to keep abreast of the whole application process(deadlines,etc.),and I was told by the Director of the nursing program that all testing was going to be completed by March so they could send out letters in April. So I called again the other day and was told that probably sometime in May we would know if we made it into the program or not. So, I'm just waiting and wondering what I'm going to do with myself if I don't get in. Enough about me, have you found out anything since February when you posted? I'll be glad to help you with what I know so far. Hope you're enjoying the area!

Sorry gals:-( I didn't get in either and now I'm wondering what to do for the next year?!? I'm actually contemplating another career now. I'm almost 35, have two children and I feel like I can't just stand still another year in hopes that I'll get in the next time. I'm a massage therapist now, but my body can't take doing that full-time much longer!

I'm waiting as well. Glad to see you two on here! The counselor that did my point count review said letters are going out March 25th. Do you mean that 300 people passed their PSB as well? If so, wow those are scary competitive numbers!! This is my first year applying to nursing school and we're moving to the area in June. Have you all applied before and do you mind if I ask you what your point total was(mine was 290)? I asked the counselor what the range of points were for last year's students that made it into the program and she said this year they were counting the PSB scores differently so she couldn't tell me whether I was even competitive or not. Anyway, look forward to hearing from you all!
