CAN'T FIND AN RN JOB!!!

Published

I am a New Grad and I have been unemployed for about one month now after I quit my Emergency RN job because it was too stressful and it just wasn't for me. I was there for 4 months before I quite. I have been applying to one hospital after another. Should I start applying to retail just in case I don't find anything for the next month or two?? Is there any other RN that is going through this same crisis? Someone help! I am 24 years old and I am still living at home with my parents and am desperate for a job at this point.

Unfortunately, hiring managers are going to look at your work history and assume that you will probably bail on them also. This will make them very reluctant to invest in your orientation and training. You should probably explore non-acute organizations such as clinics, LTAC, LTC and other options.

Everyone is having trouble finding RN jobs right now.

I would definitely take someting to pay the bills while you are searching for a new position. It may take some time.

Take any job right now to pay your bills. I'm sorry you are having a hard time. Best wishes.

Then again it would be hard to get hired in a non-nursing job because they know you will jump ship when a nursing job comes along.

I quit my LTC job after 2 months. It took 2 months to find a Med/Surg job and YES, I listed the LTC job.

It is a bad market out there and will take longer than expected to find a new position, but it is possible.
