Having reached my 1 year point in ED nursing, working in the most unsupportive, toxic environment you can imagine, I decided to take the CEN (without any studying) to see if all the negativity/constant criticism I receive was possibly based on truth. Well, I am now the only non-management nurse on my unit to be a CEN :rotfl: Guess I was right in giving my notice and accepting a new job. I can now go into the new position with a little more confidence. Right now, I'm doing a happy dance at the chance to get away from that ****hole

Congratulations!!! Especially since you passed without studying.....thats incredible! I start as a new-grad nurse in a L1 Trauma Center ER in a few weeks and hope to write my CEN as soon as my first year is up too. Hopefully though I won't have the same hellish toxic environment to work in as I get there.
Congrats again, and enjoy your moment.

Congrats Lori! It's a tough test and like neneRN said, I was almost happier to get that CEN than I was to pass my boards!
Great job and good luck in your new job!

I've been halfway studying for a month or so and was going to wait for a CEN preparer course before I took my test but you give me new hope as to possibly being able to test without the course.
Congrats and I do feel like the CEN is much more difficult than the boards were.
