I'll be taking my CRNE also here in ontario. Im nervous too, I'm an internationally educated nurse from the Philippines and lucky to have an eligibility to take CRNE without going through the bridging program. I came here 2 months ago.. I'm starting to prepare now by reading the mosby's comprehensive review. Hope to go through a review class if I have budget. Hoping to pass

hey there avhiecasis! I am on the same boat. I'm also an IEN from the Philippines preparing for the CRNE this Feb 2011. I also have the Mosby's comprehensive review book and have finished reading it cover to cover. I also had taken the the practice questions, did 2x actually. I am now reading the compendium which according to some is beneficial in the preparation for the exam.

By the way I'm here in Toronto. Anxiety kicks in just by reading previous threads.. But it also helps. Hope we too, will pass the exam. High hopes to everyone taking the CRNE this Feb.

I am also taking the CRNE in February. I live in Ontario and I am planning on taking a prep course. I am soo nervous for the exam as I just want to pass the exam so I can start working.

I'm there with you nikki_nurse! Good luck to us! We have 52 days to prepare...

Best of luck to you all! Here's what I did when I had to write it in June.

If you want to pass, it is worth making a schedule, and spending the time. I felt the Oct exam was fair, but I also prepared for 5 weeks, and passed. Here is what I would recommend that works:

1) Know your patho and main diseases. 50 percent of the exam is alterations in health

2) For all questions, think assessment and nursing process in general.

3) Safety always!

4) Client centred care, and asking open ended questions.

5) Know how to prioritize care in general

6) Pick the most logical nursing answer.

7) Circle key words in the stem (not, first, except) What is it asking you??

8) Use abcs always! Airway breathing circulation

And most of all... Try not to panic, because you need to be able to think clearly. Also, watch the time closely. Do not spend more than about a minute per question. Timing is absolutely key for success. Good luck everyone. Think positively about it, and you'll be fine.
