Canadian Nurses in Arizona

Published

Hey Everyone,

I am a Canadian nursing student who is currently completing a BSN. I was just wondering if anyone was aware of what was required for me to enter Arizona to practice nursing (NCLEX etc.). Do hospitals have to suponsor me before I can start the immigration process?

Any help would be appreciated

there are a few hospitals which will petition you for green card. You can start the process off before finding a hospital by applying to AZ BON and passing NCLEX, I think Suzanne has put some threads at the top of Canada forum with info on getting into the US

NAFTA TN Visa is only for RNs, it cannot be used for the LPN license. Immigration will only issue it for the RN.

The TN Visa is completely different from the green card, completely different process, as well as visa.

You need to pass the NCLEX-RN exam, and have a Visa Screen Certificate in hand, before you can qualify for the NAFTA TN Visa.

Canadian passport holders actually qualify for the NAFTA TN Visa, which is honored thru the Free-Trade Treaty that we have with them as well as Mexico. All that they need to do is produce a Visa Screen Certificate, and a letter of employment at the border, and they are issued a one year visa that is renewable.

than.... what kind of visa i need in order to work in usa as an lpn ?

or what is the process of paper work re: this issue. ( for my case)

you are unable to work in the us as an lpn, if getting your own visa.

the only way around that is to marry an american. :jester:

what i am trying to tell you is that until you get the rn after your name, immigration will not issue any type of working visa to you.
