I had a great chem prof, and I enjoyed the class very much. It did help a lot with my understanding of acid/base balance.

I had to take pharm for my ADN. I've heard that some BSN programs do not require it.

LVN program, 2005 = no chemistry required

LPN-to-ASN transition program, 2010 = no chemistry required

Online RN-to-BSN program, 2015 = biochemistry course was required; however, the material was presented at a lower level of difficulty than the courses offered at community colleges and land-based universities.

No, you don't need chemistry. I have not used my chemistry knowledge. But invest in a good pathophysiology textbook and that can

make or break you. Pathophysiology is crucial, chemistry is just...meh.

I had a chemistry course for health professions and it was significantly easier than the chemistry offered to other majors. This is coming from a girl who last took chemistry in sophomore year highschool and barely passed. :shy:

Here I was stressing out that I have spent all semester not grasping chemistry at all. Well I understood some of it but after reading this post I feel so much better. So glad I found it.

All the BSN programs I have seen have little to do with science. They focus, on legal, public health, cultural aspects, research, etc.......much more important than being proficient in chemistry is being proficient in APA and creative writing

Not many hydrogen bonds in bedside nursing, unless you're trying to figure out why the package the NS comes in is wet...

Some programs don't require it, some do. I was going to attend Governor's State University until I found out they required organic chemistry. I instead decided to enroll at Purdue Calumet and they don't require any Chemistry.
