Can RNs with narc. rest. work HHC?

Hey, y'all title says it all. I'm wondering if a nurse with temporary narcotic restriction can work in home health care? Thanks in advance,

Hey simon, I'd ask your CM. I know in my state (Alaska) we are not allowed to work in home health. Welcome to the site!

In my state the answer would also be no. This is mainly because they want you to have a supervisor on site when you're working and that doesn't happen in home health.

I know in Louisiana we couldn't either.

That was a pretty clear "no" in my contract. If you can't fin it in yours, call your CM...as some states could differ in this.

That was a big NO in Pennsylvania. Ask your case manager.

I've been in two state programs (I moved halfway through), and we weren't allowed to work in home health care in either state. Not just for the time I was on narcotic restriction, but for the length of the entire contract.

My CM told me that is the one restriction that cannot be removed while in the pump program. You can get your narc restriction, critical care restriction, and even your supervisor restriction removed, but never the HHC restriction. This is because anyone in the program always has to be monitored while practicing nursing. In HH, it's just you and your patient. Even when I got my supervisor restriction removed, I was never allowed to work as the only RN in the building. I could supervise other RNs, only if there was another RN to supervise me. IE the DON.
