I was told at my job LPN's cannot surpervise RN's and not even CNA's? When I was in school for my RN, I was working as LPN then however, we were taught RN's were the sole supervisors, but is this just in WV or all over. Some facilities have LPN supervisor's in WV, so I am confused. I was told by another co-worker LPN nurse, that LPN's cannot even supervise CNA's. They can ask them if they mind doing something but they cannot tell them to do it????
Delegation is actually an RN responsibility only, per BON regulations.
Delegation can only be performed by an RN in using that specific word.
An LPN can assign duties to another LPN or a CNA, but they cannot delegate.
It has more to do with semantics but that is how the BON standards are worded.
I need clear examples of delegation can anyone tell me some of their ideas on what it means to delegate and give an example? So to directed care is also to delegate? Bare with me I am just trying to understand.
An easy way to think of it, a CEO of a company is not going to do everything himself, he has people that he delegates things to do. That person in turn may assign someone below them, or even equal to them to do something but cannot delegate.
