Starting WGU RN-BSN
Well, what I was giving to understand by the person I spoke with on the phone (and I also graduated in 1999) was "it all should (I use should carefully)transfer even after 10 years." However; the school will decide on what they will accept, so it's really down to them. I guess we will have to wait and see. Dee

I agree with you, according to this description you gave, it doesn't seem like it will be to difficult. Thanks for the heads up. I am hoping also to complete my program in two semesters. Great we will use this site and the WGU site to communicate. I look forward to getting started and finiishing, it's been a long time coming. I'd like to continue with the Masters later on. Dee

One thing about this program so far, that I have come to realize, is they do not provide you with a definitive and descriptive curricullum. I do not think so anyway! I am use to more structure like program.

Maybe we can buddy up, and keep each other company during this journey. About how long do you think it may take you to finish? I plan on taking the exam next week, as I am on vacation right now. I haven't done any Math related education since 1999. I come from a era where my education really didn't include alot of Algebra, so I am fearful of this exam. What I mean, is I had enough to get me into nursing school for the ADN, but you really just needed basic math. I was giving to understand that the harder math is required in the BSN program, as part of the curricullum. Dee

How was the entrance exam? That is, could you stop and go back or was it timed? You can use your credits from your ADN if the school approves them, so I am given to understand. D

WGU students where are you?
I am on vacation right now, so I decided to check this site out for two reasons. I knew I'd find students is one, the other was just to post a general question. Anyway, thanks for the heads up. I've been out of school since 1994, and the only math formula I use at work is D/HxQ, the pharmacy does the rest.

I am use to this type of work I tooked the CPNE and that was 3 months of prep and you had to be 100% on every skill, but I am a better nurse for it. I am looking forward to this; however English is a hard subject for me, my parents spoke broken language dad being the worse and all through school I struggled. To this day I struggle. Give me any other subject I am fine. Ask me to write and I write like I talk bad, but I have learn over the years how to compromise.

WGU students where are you?
Hey Lisa I just enrolled in this program. How hard is that entry test? It's been 20 years for me. I am worried. How does this program work? The classes are they online? I haven't talked with Mary P yet, but first wanted to talk to students. Is this a hard program? I did Regents RN program and it wasn't easy, but I think I can do this. Thanks

Im feeling Ready for the CPNE!
I did mine in 1999 passed it first time went on to take state boards and pass them first time. I really think this program prepares you well for state boards. Write if you want to know more. It was toughhhhhh and you have to be 100% on every skill. I prepared for 3 months set up labs in my house and practiced everyday. You can do it!!!!!! You have the right attitude and that matters!

Air Embolisms by Central Line Removal
I just finished a class in Infusion therapy. We were told to remove a CL the patient needed to/must be flat, and do V maneuver. No exceptions. A nurse noted a CL was not removed prior and up to D/C of patient. Anyway she removed a CL while the man was sitting in a W/C waiting for his wife who was out getting the car for transport home. When she came back in the man was dead. Why, a air embolism. This was a story told to us in class today. I understood her to say it is removed slowly and carefully while patient is flat. Does anyone have and good book resources or CL DVD's that actually demonstrates this process? This class was excellent, and it last 16 hours, 2 days, but I it was fast pace and I do want to remember everything I was taught. We talked about arm circumference, which is very important part of assessment, verifying tip placement etc.,. There was so much info. Lynne

I'm sure this has been said.. MA's calling themselves Nurses
Your measuring oxygen saturation so it would be PO2 or O2 sat there is no such thing as O2 stat unless it reads as doctors order as an immediate account of ones O2 status.

You can blame society for that.
