  1. Well, what I was giving to understand by the person I spoke with on the phone (and I also graduated in 1999) was "it all should (I use should carefully)transfer even after 10 years." However; the school will decide on what they will accept, so it's really down to them. I guess we will have to wait and see. Dee
  2. Yes, I understand that to. I will only concentrate for now on the BSN. We will do this!!!!! Dee
  3. I work as a full time RN Supervisor. My fear's have been aleviated a great deal, with your help. Thanks
  4. I agree with you, according to this description you gave, it doesn't seem like it will be to difficult. Thanks for the heads up. I am hoping also to complete my program in two semesters. Great we will use this site and the WGU site to communicate. I look forward to getting started and finiishing, it's been a long time coming. I'd like to continue with the Masters later on. Dee
  5. One thing about this program so far, that I have come to realize, is they do not provide you with a definitive and descriptive curricullum. I do not think so anyway! I am use to more structure like program.
  6. Maybe we can buddy up, and keep each other company during this journey. About how long do you think it may take you to finish? I plan on taking the exam next week, as I am on vacation right now. I haven't done any Math related education since 1999. I come from a era where my education really didn't include alot of Algebra, so I am fearful of this exam. What I mean, is I had enough to get me into nursing school for the ADN, but you really just needed basic math. I was giving to understand that the harder math is required in the BSN program, as part of the curricullum. Dee
  7. How was the entrance exam? That is, could you stop and go back or was it timed? You can use your credits from your ADN if the school approves them, so I am given to understand. D
  8. I am on vacation right now, so I decided to check this site out for two reasons. I knew I'd find students is one, the other was just to post a general question. Anyway, thanks for the heads up. I've been out of school since 1994, and the only math formula I use at work is D/HxQ, the pharmacy does the rest.
  9. I am use to this type of work I tooked the CPNE and that was 3 months of prep and you had to be 100% on every skill, but I am a better nurse for it. I am looking forward to this; however English is a hard subject for me, my parents spoke broken language dad being the worse and all through school I struggled. To this day I struggle. Give me any other subject I am fine. Ask me to write and I write like I talk bad, but I have learn over the years how to compromise.
  10. Thank you for your input. Love your attitude! I have enrolled and I am worried about the entry exam it's been 20 years. I plan on getting mine over and done with I hope to take the Masters I'd like to enroll in a NP program here close by. Thanks
  11. Hey Lisa I just enrolled in this program. How hard is that entry test? It's been 20 years for me. I am worried. How does this program work? The classes are they online? I haven't talked with Mary P yet, but first wanted to talk to students. Is this a hard program? I did Regents RN program and it wasn't easy, but I think I can do this. Thanks
  12. I did mine in 1999 passed it first time went on to take state boards and pass them first time. I really think this program prepares you well for state boards. Write if you want to know more. It was toughhhhhh and you have to be 100% on every skill. I prepared for 3 months set up labs in my house and practiced everyday. You can do it!!!!!! You have the right attitude and that matters!
  13. I just finished a class in Infusion therapy. We were told to remove a CL the patient needed to/must be flat, and do V maneuver. No exceptions. A nurse noted a CL was not removed prior and up to D/C of patient. Anyway she removed a CL while the man was sitting in a W/C waiting for his wife who was out getting the car for transport home. When she came back in the man was dead. Why, a air embolism. This was a story told to us in class today. I understood her to say it is removed slowly and carefully while patient is flat. Does anyone have and good book resources or CL DVD's that actually demonstrates this process? This class was excellent, and it last 16 hours, 2 days, but I it was fast pace and I do want to remember everything I was taught. We talked about arm circumference, which is very important part of assessment, verifying tip placement etc.,. There was so much info. Lynne
  14. Your measuring oxygen saturation so it would be PO2 or O2 sat there is no such thing as O2 stat unless it reads as doctors order as an immediate account of ones O2 status.
  15. I am giving Flu Shots part time at Walmart this season. The sign at our table says Flu and Pneumonia vaccines given by Professional Nurses. Some smarty pants (man of 70) stop by the table and said what are professional nurses anyway laughing as he said it. I said Licensed Nurses by the state boards who went to school for a length of time to get a title to practice. So it's clear to me that many people do not even think we have Degrees or Diplomas they think the hospital just trains us?????? Go figure?
  16. I doubt they are threaten by a female cohort when we have boo coos of female MD's.
  17. I found out that in many doctors offices MA's do everything a nurse would they are even trained to draw blood, but CNA's can be trained to do that to. So the doctors are to blame for a lot of this title exchange and for confusing the patients by referring to MA's as their nurse in my opinion.
  18. I prefer the adult client in home health and there doesn't seem to be a demand. All I see is care givers for seniors in the paper and that means like a CNA. The demand is high for PEDS home health nursing and these babies are on Vents, have trachs and g-tubes. I do it part time when their is a case, but I do not like it really, because it is to slow for me. I need a happy medium something I can be busy with, but not LTC or hospital busy. You need a Masters for teaching in this state, and I really am done with that level of school. The only classes I want to do are for my CEUs yearly and my Certifications. Thanks anyway.
  19. The person who said that doctors office are serene must have never spent time in the waiting room sick. Well I have and I had eyes nothing serene about it. But give me that over my med surge unit any day or LTC giving 40 people 100s of pills in a given time frame, transcribing tons of orders, documenting in lots of charts, dealing with pharmacy, family and adm.
  20. I rather do this stressful work than deal with 40 medsurge beds, 10 of those telemetry; IV pushes heart meds, resp etc, IV's, Heparin IV, TPN and lipids, admissions, discharges, post and pre-ops, blood transfusions, tons of ports, drains, chest tubes out the wazoo. One day 3 codes including one DIC which we were pulling clots as big as my fist from his throat waiting on the ER doctor to arrive to the floor at which point by then was to late for heparin IV, a young 34 year old male with lymphoma (sp) cancer. Oh gosh, I was the head nurse unit team leader they called me day after day all sorts of stuff. Demanding oh gosh do I know that word. Year after year I did this 2:30p to 12MN no more. Give me the stress of the doctors office anyday.
  21. Thanks to all for posting on this thread I have learned a lot. Again thanks! :monkeydance:
  22. That's not an extreme example that is a ridiculous comparison. Although you have a point to some degree I never said I expected to get paid acute care wages. Oh brother sister what kind of example is that your going from grocery store clerk to comparing them with a RN someone with a 2-4 year degree. Bling, bling they are advertising here for RN's and LPN's for doctors offices, so I guess they still figure on using them.
  23. No I haven't but there is a thought. Thanks
