Can your license be revoked over assault?

Published

If you assault someone and it's not work related can or will they pull your nursing license? For example, a husband cheats on his wife so his wife (who is a nurse) hunts down his girlfriend, throws a heavy chain through her windshield, drags her out by her hair and uses her face for a punching bag and (possibly) goes to jail over it.

Could she get in trouble with the BON over that?

Oh lord have mercy.

And on that note, this thread is closed.

Whether this situation is real or hypothetical, there is a huge difference between acting in self-defense (which presumes fear of immediate physical harm) and acting out of rage and the desire to teach someone not to mess with your spouse.

It's sobering to consider all a person stands to lose in the wake of impulsive actions. Probably far more than the ones who caused the problems in the first place.

Anyone who has committed or is considering committing acts of violence needs to consult with their state BON and/or an attorney. That might help them count the cost, so to speak.
