i hope someone can answer to my questions. my aha bls card was expired for about11 months already and i forgot to renew it. i just noticed about it and need to renew it right away. but i would like to renew it online since it's more convenient because i don't have a car so it would better this way for me.
anyway here are my questions:
1. can i still be able to renew my expired bls card? (expired for 11 months already)
2. do you know of any approved website that let you do both the skill and written portions online? (i know onlineaha.org offered the written portion online but not the skill - because this part only available in-person)
3. when you renew your bls is the written part is good enough to meet the requirement, or you have to take the skill part too in order to renew it?
that's all, thank you in advance :) .

For the AHA you take the test onine but the skills portion is seperate. You pay for the test first and then go to a skills center or fire dept and do the skills checkoff (cost 10-20 dollars), they will give you a code and then you go back to the web site and enter that and you will be recertified.(you have to pass both)
Thank you mzrainydayz for answered part of my questions. Very helpful!!
But I still want to know...
Can I renew my expired BLS CPR card?
Anyone?????

Renewing it is pretty much the same thing ...except the hands on part might be a little shorter depending where you go. It costs the same too..as far as I know. But if you are planning on working at a hospital be careful because some of them don't accept online courses. I just renewed mine and the hospital I am going to be working for didn't accept any online courses for the BLS even if it is a renewal..

Be careful with renewing online. I made that error about 2 years ago. Paid for it, only to find out that it was not approved by AHA. It stated it was international, but nowhere did the card stated American Heart Association. I did everything online, only to find out it was not valid, so there went my money poof.
I suggest you call your local fire department. I just took an ACLS course together with the BLS, taught to us by 2 firefighters, approved by AHA.
If you can get several people to go with you, sometimes they have special rates; especially if you are a student, like what we got. Just make sure they are AHA approved.
As for renewing, they will just issue a new card with the date you go.
Good Luck.

Onlineaha is legit and you can renew there. You DO have to go to the second session (live skills check) and they give you the card when you come in. I've done it for the last three renewals and it's through the AHA and your card is AHA. But no, it's not 100% online and you'll have to pay both the AHA and the skills tester. I spent less than 10 minutes at the skills test today so it's no big deal (they knew me and I was the only one there).
The one I took did not have that (part online and part on site). I did not know any better and to check and they presented it as that all you needed was to do the online part. I sure send them an email complaining about this and yep - they never replied.
If it is that way featherzRN states then it makes sense. Whatever you decide make sure is AHA approved.
I have to say, I truly enjoyed doing the ACLS and BLS with the firefighters, they shared their experience with us, it was very laid back (not to mentioned how good looking they were )
