Can I be a nursing student at Piedmont or GRU while still attending UGA?

Published

Hi, I really want to go to school to be a nurse. I plan on attending UGA for pre-nursing, but I was wondering if it would be possible to still attend UGA but attend Athens Tech, GRU or the Piedmont Nursing School at the same time to get my nurse training? Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks!

you want attend a nursing school while simultaneously taking pre-nursing class at another !!! Why ?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you trying to get accepted into a nursing program at one school while simultaneously taking pre-requs at another? How do you propose to get accepted WITHOUT having completed the pre-requisites? I'm assuming that by "nurse training" (antiquated term, thankfully, as nurses aren't trained, they are educated) you mean the college's core nursing curriculum.

Am I close?

One could conceivably be enrolled in one community college's nursing program while simultaneously taking prerequisite courses (not required by the community college program) for a BSN program at another school. The big question is how do you propose to juggle all of this and be successful at both? Don't bite off more than you can chew.

I'm sorry, I didn't really explain thoroughly. I want to take pre-nursing classes at UGA for two years and then (hopefully) my junior year of college get accepted into nursing school to obtain my BSN. I have heard that there is a program in Athens where you can stay at UGA while attending nursing school in Athens. I'm not really sure what it is or how it works, but I wanted to know if it would be possible to stay in Athens to work for my BSN instead of having to transfer away from UGA to go to nursing school. Does that make sense?

This sounds like a specific question for your college's admissions department, or your academic advisor...or both.

We cannot possibly tell you whether you can go to one school and fulfill the requirements of another, that would be up to the schools in question.

Hi

There is a part of gru nursing in Athens. But it's is not part of uga. It's just a satellite of gru in Athens. And if you apply their there is no guarantee which campus you will be on. And you can always live in Athens and commute to Piedmont. But that's quite the haul.

I know you probably really love your friends at uga. But the great news is. Your nursing cohort becomes like family too. Don't be afraid of leaving uga. And if a degree from uga is really important for you stay and than get a nursing degree after.

Hey there! I am a senior BSN student at GRU at the Athens campus. I went to UGA for my "pre-nursing" and have loved staying in Athens. I'd be glad to help you figure out anything. There is a pre-nursing club on campus that exists! I was president for 2 years and would be glad to get you involved. They can help with any and all nursing questions, especially since UGA doesn't have any advisors to help!

GRU has a satellite campus in Athens. They use the UGA campus.
