Can I have multiple ear piercings?

Published

I'm thinking about getting second holes in my ears (lobes), but I'm starting nursing school in just over a month, and I'm not sure if I can have multiple piercings...are nurses usually allowed to? I don't want to get my ears pierced and then have them close up because I can't wear the second earrings (although, I suppose if I can only wear one, I could only wear earrings in the second hole while I'm at school, and when I go elsewhere put earrings in the first holes).

Anyone?

My school was failry relaxed about many things, but the jewelry issue was very clear. One pair of studs in the earlobes, one ring with no protruding stones, and a wristwatch with a second hand. Anything else was gone. Many times, students in my clinical groups were directed to remove the studs from their tongues and nose and eyebrows and face... One of my instructors told one of the youngers that she was just too ugly to look at.

Interestingly, visible tattoos were not a problem.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

I think I'll wait on it anyway...I'm not a huge jewelry girl, so I don't know that second holes would be worth it.

When I was in nursing school it was 1 earring in each ear and it had to be studs.

Our dress code specified only one earring per ear but I saw many people with 2-3 holes.

People that had multiple piercings in their ears just didn't wear earrings in them.

My school policy stated "No more than one single pair of earrings to be no larger than a nickel".

No other piercings or visible tattoos were allowed and strictly enforced. Check with your school!
