You can still do it! I had a lot of issues the first time I went to college and I got a D in chemistry, along with completely failing some other classes. I went back to school 7 years later, retook chemistry (got an A this time!) and worked really hard to bring up my GPA. Now I've been accepted into a nursing program starting in January.
It is possible to come back from a history of bad grades from your first college experience, it just takes a lot of hard work, but if you're determined, you can get it done. Good luck!
You'd have had to retake the class, anyways - 12 years is a long time ago when it comes to pre-reqs. Most schools that I've seen don't like anything older than 5 years.
Yes, it will show up, but here's the other thing. The school will be looking at all your other pre-reqs as well. Get good grades in everything else, that will go a very long way to balancing out a single bad grade. (Did for me)
Dallanah. They are really going to hold a grade from 12 years ago against you? That's beyond nuts. I took Anatomy and Physiology(not the combined hybrid but the separate courses) 10 years ago at a University, got A's in both, and my school(A Community College) wont accept them because it was that long ago. They are making me take A&P again, yet they are going hold that against you and not let you retake? I'd be finding another school. I hope I'm understanding this correctly to be fair.

12 years ago i knew i wanted to be a nurse and started the pre clinical phase but i screwed up and got a D in psychology at a cuny school (new york). Fast forward 12 years a husband and two children i wanted another shot at it but every school i look at says the D in psychology would prevent me from being a nurse. Is there any advice on what i can do or even perhaps an lpn program ,what schools are good?
