Hi everyone!
I have to write a paper and have a perioperative nurse answer the following questions. Input is greatly appreciated!
1. Describe how you use the Surgical Safety Checklist? Please explain everyone's role when using the Surgical Safety Checklist.
2. Describe the relationship the circulating nurse has with the anaesthesia care provider. Please explain the scope of practice of an anaesthesia assistant (AA). How does the role of the AA differ from the role of the circulating nurse?
3. How do you intervene when you see members of the surgical team skip steps or not follow ORNAC standards, consequently putting the patient at risk?
4. Have you ever encountered a situation when the patient experienced respiratory complications or cardiac complications? If yes, how did the surgical team address this situation? Specifically, what was the nurse's role during the emergency? If no, what strategies do you have in place to ensure you are prepared for an emergency situation?
6. When you transfer the patient to the recovery room or the ICU, please explain what role the nurse plays. What information do you share with the recovery room or ICU nurse?
I know it is lengthy. Please, any answers help. I am having trouble finding a nurse with time to answer everything.
Thank you!

I don't know if you'll have much luck getting answers here- it seems the majority of members are from the US, and because you're asking about ORNAC standards, I take it you're in Canada? Does ORNAC hold meetings? Would you be able to reach out to someone at a local meeting?

These are the questions I was required to answer when I did the course.
The answers are all in the workbooks, and lectures.
Good Luck.

My hourly rate is $120...I can PM with an account number for direct deposit and we can get going on this.
Are u frickin kidding me. Quit trolling.
You're the one posting your homework questions here. Fiona59 gave you solid advice to find the answers yourself.
I'm suppose to get the answers directly from another nurse. Not the textbook.

So if you're required to interview a nurse regarding these questions, maybe you should contact the Clinical Nurse Educators at your local hospitals and ask if you can meet with an OR nurse.
