Calling in on weekends and NO pay!!

The hospital I work for does not grant PTO (paid time off/ vacation time) for calling in on the weekend. Are there any other facilities out there like this? Personally, I believe this only punishes everyone for the few who were often calling in on the weekend. Even if I am legitimately ill, call in 8 hours before my shift begins AND have an MD's note I don't get paid!! Is that not absolutely rediculous?!:(

I think if you have a doctor's note than they should certainly be giving PTO. What does your contract say? If it outlined this policy and you signed, then I can't see you changing it now, but if it doesn't I would be raising one heck of a ruckus!

What barbaric, backwoods place do you work? Is there no other facility that you can work at???? Yikes!!!

The facility where I work has NO PTO until you've been there a year, and then it's 1 week vacation time.

If we don't work, we don't get paid..which, if you think about it, is only right. Benefits are "extras", but I sure wish I had some!!!
