Calling any Watts School of Nursing Students!!!

Hi all,

I have posted a few times about my worries on getting into a nursing program and just wanted to share that I got accepted to Watts School of Nursing in Durham. I am so excited and I was wondering if any Watts students (or from other programs) had any advice on how they have gone about financing their education. I never had to deal with financial aid when I got my undergrad a few years ago and Watts is pretty pricey, (about $30,000). I plan to do the tuition reimbursement program with Duke when I graduate but I'm worried about what to do right now. Any advice on financial aid or private loan experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!:heartbeat

I will def post here after my exam. I have a few hours between the end of my exam and my flight, so I will post right away while it's fresh in my head. That is if my brain still functions afterward! Lol

Does anyone know if we pass the entrance exam now in Feb and get accepted, would we be likely to start in June, or will we have to wait until Jan???

The only answer I was able to get was they take 50 students each time. No way of knowing if June is full yet.

Does anyone know if the verbal portion of the test consist of synonyms & antonyms only or are there verbal analogies questions as well?

There aren't any verbal analogies (at least that is what all the people on here said) but, one person said that they had synonyms and another person said they had antonyms.

I've been wondering if any of you all know how well the graduates of Watts School of Nursing receive jobs after finishing the program and passing all the exams. I've been reading a lot about students not being able to find a job as a nurse. I just don't know how the market is in this area of NC (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill).

How about the math...is it straight math or word problem math questions??

Not from there, so don't quote me, but since I'm relocating I've been doing a lot of online job research, and there are a ton of RN jobs out there... I think more than Miami!!

As for the exam, I think watts says it's success rate in 2008 was 100% in 2009 96%.
