Calling any Watts School of Nursing Students!!!

Published

Hi all,

I have posted a few times about my worries on getting into a nursing program and just wanted to share that I got accepted to Watts School of Nursing in Durham. I am so excited and I was wondering if any Watts students (or from other programs) had any advice on how they have gone about financing their education. I never had to deal with financial aid when I got my undergrad a few years ago and Watts is pretty pricey, (about $30,000). I plan to do the tuition reimbursement program with Duke when I graduate but I'm worried about what to do right now. Any advice on financial aid or private loan experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!:heartbeat

I just got my results back today for Jan test. I passed academic aptitude no problem:up: But I flopped on the reading comp. I love to read. It just wasn't what I was expecting. I hope to try again in Feb.

That's what I've been reading on the posts, but seems like very high passing rates the 2nd time testing. Was the academic aptitude portion just addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions & decimals? Anything I should focus more on?

Jx,

A lot of word problems in there... I did pass on my first time, but BARELY!!!! I got flustered on some of the word problems and started leaving them behind. I started looking up at the clock constantly once i got a little panicked. Don't do that!!! lol Good luck!

@ Jeepinjed thanks a bunch for the FYI, at 34 I've been out of school for sometime :-) just want to make sure I'm well prepared.

jx,

lol... i'm 33... i know what you mean...

I just skipped the ones that would take time to answer and zipped through the easy ones.

Any tips on the reading? I tried reading quickly but found I spent too much time looking back to find the answers. February is full so I may have to wait until March to re-take.:crying2:

TIB,

To be honest I just skimmed through the paragraph so I had an idea where I had to look for the answer. From there I just scanned the paragraph for key words.

I test on February 8...I am nervous...I really want to do well. :redbeathe Any tips on the Verbal part? I see some people say it was just Antonyms and some just Synonyms....what did you all have on your test recently?

JX3boys,

I am testing in February! What day are you testing on....7, 8, or 15th?

Mom,

Pretty much just that for the verbal...

I'm testing on the 15th :-)

I also want to do really well the 1st time, I've been studying everyday.

Me too!! I just want to take it one time and pass. It is so nerve racking. Ughhh!!!
