Calling all Grand Canyon University Spring 2014 Hopefuls!!!

U.S.A. Arizona

Hey all! I wanted to created this thread in hopes of finding other Grand Canyon University (GCU) Spring 2014 hopefuls!! I am about to apply for the Fast-track 16 month BSN as a second degree student, either at Scottsdale Healthcare or GCU campus. The deadline for applications are September 15th, 2013... just a couple months away. If you are applying or thinking of applying, please join in and lets get this thread started! :) :geek: :nurse:

Good luck!

Hello Eyestripe!

Yesterday I attended the optional site orientation for Boswell. It is a gorgeous facility! Anyway, I imagine it will be as Toy described, but it sounded like all of our classes with the exception of 305 will be in Classroom 3, with 305 in Classroom 1.

A few important tips they brought up: leave your house earlier than normal the first few days to get a feel for traffic that time of morning. Note that the facility does open at 7am so you can get there pretty early if you want. Also, the student lounge has 2 microwaves and 2 refrigerators if you are bringing your lunch. There are some places within easy driving distance to grab a bite, otherwise.

Good luck to you and to everyone else starting next week! It has been a crazy journey so far, but I am so excited for this next phase!

Cheers :-)

U guys look for me! I'll probably have my hair curly unless I decide to straighten it. Lol I'm in level 2. I'm af am with freckles if that helps! Lol I'd like to meet someone from allnurses. Plus I can answer any questions y'all may have... @eyestripe u too!

For future applicants interested in our level one schedule here it is:

(This is for SHC fast track 16 month BSN - 4 level program)

Level One (starting Jan 7th and has total of 16 weeks which includes one week off for spring break)

Tues: 9-11 & 12-2

Wed: 9-11 & 1-430

Thurs: 9-11 & 12-3

Fri: Lab Group A 9a-12p

Lab Group B 1-4pm

After the first 6 weeks or so we will also have lab on Mondays, same group and times as Friday lab.

There are 4 classes for this level (all taken concurrently)

Nursing Foundations

Therapeutic Communication & Informatics

Health Assessment (has lab portion, Fridays)

Pharmacology (has lab portion, Mondays)

Hope this helps give some insight for future people interested in applying. Btw just out of curiosity, if anyone from the other cohorts sees this is your schedule for level one the same?

I was wondering, if the schedule is due able with a part-time job or does it just depend on the amount of effort you put forth for the schedule that is provided. I'm planning on applying to this location SCH.

Mrs.Bond! I didn't hear about the site orientation for Boswell. Couple of questions. 1. Are you taking any classes right now? 2. How did you find out about the Boswell orientation? 3. Did they mention if they are having any more of those? 4. Whom do you think I should contact about going to one of those?

Hello! I am currently in Block 2 at the GCU Boswell campus, so yes I am taking classes now :-) We were emailed about the optional site orientation sometime a week or two before classes started, and the email came from the site director. You are always welcome to come visit the campus any time it is open (M-F 7-5). I would imagine they will have another optional site orientation before the beginning of Fall semester, but you can always contact the site director to find out for sure. If you don't already have her contact information, your nursing admissions advisor should be able to give it to you.

I just want to stress again the site orientation was optional - pretty much a meet and greet with some of the professors and a site tour. The important information (books, medical stuff, etc.) will be discussed at the main orientation which will be held on main campus sometime ~month before classes start. You also have the opportunity to meet with your site director at the main orientation.

Congrats and good luck with everything!

One pair of scrubs first semester. I bought a greys anatomy. Before 2nd sem began I purchased one more along with a landau. It helps with clinical & labs to have extra! Get the usual, notebooks, pens, pencils, oh, & a MASTER CALENDAR!! You must put all assignments in one place so you don't get confused & forget anything. Please stick to that calendar! Write everything for the semester in there with all due dates & knock them out the way early if you can. You'll be grateful that you did! ☺

Hello everyone,

Im not sure if any of you still come to this thread, but how.is everyone doing in their programs ?! I am applyng for Spring 15' at AT Still.
