Calling all Grand Canyon University Spring 2014 Hopefuls!!!

Published

Hey all! I wanted to created this thread in hopes of finding other Grand Canyon University (GCU) Spring 2014 hopefuls!! I am about to apply for the Fast-track 16 month BSN as a second degree student, either at Scottsdale Healthcare or GCU campus. The deadline for applications are September 15th, 2013... just a couple months away. If you are applying or thinking of applying, please join in and lets get this thread started! :) :geek: :nurse:

Good luck!

I too am hopeful that I can get all my ducklings in a row and apply for January 2014 start! :) I'm not sure about my chances since I still have psy230 I need to finish up this fall, but I am taking the TEAS in a week... Fingers crossed and good luck with your applications!!

I am applying for Spring 2014 Fast-Track as a second degree student and am hoping to be accepted at either Banner Boswell or Scottsdale. I still have my last pre-req to complete this fall (Bio 205) but am hoping that doesn't totally take me out of the running. Best of luck to us all on our applications :-)

I'm also applying for Spring 2014 fast track :) I'm done with everything except Pathophysiology which will be done in 3 weeks. I have a good TEAS score and a decent prerequisite GPA, but I'm not super confident about my chances of getting in. I had to repeat classes in the early days, I'm applying as a first degree student, and I'm coming from out of state, but we'll see :) Good luck to you all, and hopefully most of us get in!

Good luck to everyone!! I too am taking my TEAS next week, so I need to study hard this week. What is everyone's average TEAS scores?

I did pretty well on the TEAS, so if you need help, just let me know! My overall was 94.7 and the rest were:

Reading: 92.9

Math: 96.7

Science: 93.8

English/language use: 93.3

What are the two scores that count?

So was there anything in particular you used to study with? Currently I have the mcgraw-hill 5 practice tests, and have been scouring the web for additional resources, any suggestions? I figure if I don't do as well as I hope tomorrow I can retake the test before the cutoff on the 15th for applications.

Hi Ablazing -

I am scheduled to take the TEAS on the 19th and have been referring to this thread on Allnurses for study guidance: https://allnurses.com/teas-exam-help/how-i-passed-804222.html

I purchased the ATI TEAS study materials/sample tests and plan on purchasing the McGrawhill tests as well. On the practice tests, I scored 100/93 on Reading and Math, and I believe that is all GCU will be looking at, but I also want to make sure I do well in the other areas. I scored 90% in the language part, but I definitely need to review science >.

Oh my goodness I did it! I completely feaked out on the way to GCU today to take the teas but I did it, hopefully well enough to be competitive to get in, I score a 95.2 on reading and a 90 in Math. Thanks for the response MrsBond I reviewed a ton of stuff online and got the McGraw Hill practice tests. I probably could have done better if I had really buckled down and studied but I am stoked with my score. Now just the count down to get everything in to GCU. Did everyone else get the email from admissions about the deadlines and requirements they sent out today? Hope you guys have a great weekend, I know I will be relaxing a bit! :)

Congrats on your score, Ablazing! I know GCU recommends scoring at least a 70 in Reading and Math, so your score definitely seems competitive.

My adviser sent me the reminder email a few weeks ago; I had originally indicated I wasn't going to apply until Fall 2014, but decided I didn't want to wait that long, so I emailed him a few weeks ago to change everything and he sent it to me then. I am done with everything except taking the TEAS and finishing up my last pre-req this fall. Have a great weekend!

Those are great scores everyone!!!! Wow very competitive! I just took my TEAS today, and got 81 on Reading and 86.7 on Math. I hope those are okay, my counselor said they think anything above an 80 is competitive.... so I hope that's the case! Math and Reading are the only two they look at, so those were the only ones I really focused on.

Hi Bee -

Congrats on your TEAS scores! I looked back at discussions about scores for previous semesters and your scores definitely seem competitive. I am taking it on Monday and am torn on how much to study for the Science/Language sections. I know they aren't considered, but I don't want to totally bomb them. I am doing well on Reading/Math on practice tests, but my biggest downfall is misreading the questions, so I am focusing on focusing! Anyway, grats again and have a good weekend!
