  1. One pair of scrubs first semester. I bought a greys anatomy. Before 2nd sem began I purchased one more along with a landau. It helps with clinical & labs to have extra! Get the usual, notebooks, pens, pencils, oh, & a MASTER CALENDAR!! You must put all assignments in one place so you don't get confused & forget anything. Please stick to that calendar! Write everything for the semester in there with all due dates & knock them out the way early if you can. You'll be grateful that you did! ☺
  2. Don't buy a cuff, they give u one along with a bag to carry it all in!
  3. I have a pearl pink littman! ☺ Get whatever color you like!
  4. Hi everyone. Ebak, for you at Boswell I can tell you now, our campus is strict about us looking good. They are trying to mold us into professional nurses. From this point on you represent GCU. Everything that you do & say can be held against you. Please be careful about what you post on social media. Shoes must be all white however I've seen a pair with a purple Nike check. (1pair) nails must be clean & short, no polish at our campus. Polish even un-chipped harvests bacteria. Hair kept up out of face & off shoulders in your scrubs. They did away with fundamentals & we now have "foundations" which teaches u the ethics behind nursing. It's a great course in which we all need so we can be aware of the rules & our limits in the profession. We don't have clinical in level 1 but luckily at Boswell, we have volunteers from the hospital who come to our labs for health assessment & allow us to practice on them. It's so much fun & they are very nice, we enjoy them as well. Books: I always purchased the bundle which to me was quick & easy. Some ppl did buy their books online & purchase the codes separately. One more thing, for pharm, look for Pharm Phlash, these are flash cards with every med & all you need to know about them. These saved me! You'll see once you get them! ;-) Relax guys, it's lost of hard work but you made it this far for a reason. Manage your time & study hard, you've got this!!!
  5. Oh they did? I never knew that. Gotcha
  6. Say no to holistic care? Why would you feel that way? Caring for a patient holistically is the best way to do so. It's the whole pt & their families. Are you in a BSN program? They really enforce evidence based nursing practice & holistic care in those programs. I go to GCU & I truly appreciate my professors & the curriculum for leading me on the right path of achieving what's expected for healthcare by 2020. Maybe your teacher wasn't literally showing you table manners but manners in general. Maybe that's her way of teaching professionalism... Try to appreciate your teachers bc I think they do what they do for particular reasons.
  7. Congrats to all of you!!! You will hopefully love the program! GCU cares! Work hard & stay focused & u will be fine!!!

It was sent at 3 & I was on the phone w my friends for 2 hours while cooking & cleaning & didn't realize how fast the time had passed. When we hung up I said to myself oh shoot let me check! Guess what! It was there, 2 hrs ago!! Hahaha I saw my advisors name then there was a link to open up! I opened it & there it was...CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I cried continuously & my kids started crying bc I was crying then I called everyone I knew & they were crying... Hahaha It felt great! So tomorrow just may be your day!!
