I don't believe so. I am pretty sure it is open admissions, as long as you complete all the steps for admission that are listed in the nursing admissions packet. I do know once in the program, you must have a grade of a C in order to pass the classes. I assume it is the same for the other pre-reqs, but I am not sure.
I finally just took the net a couple of weeks ago and met with a counselor to start taking my pre-req's in the fall. Now I am just waiting for an information session to come along so I can be placed on the waiting list.
Hope this helps!

There is not min. GPA required at brookdale from what I have read. Have you applied to the program yet? I am attending the information session on the June 26th... that's only 2 days away. I am so excited because that means you are officially on the list and the only thing you have to do is wait.
I am actually going to the info session tomorrow too!

Has anyone taken the NET? How is it? Was it only English and Math? Are calculators allowed? Any tips would be great! I'll be taking it within the next few weeks.
I took the NET today and it was a little bit more difficult then I expected... The sections weren't so bad but it was timed so it kept me on a quick pace. The math was a lot of basic things but without doing them for years and without a calculator I found myself reteaching it mid test. i ended up passing with a 82 and they want a 50 to pass....

I'm at Brookdale now and on the waiting list for the nursing program. I would suggest to apply to other schools only because of the waiting list. Take your pre-reqs there and transfer out. I've been on the waiting list since Jan 08. I was told not until fall of 2010, but in reality it won't be until 2011. I've also heard that the waiting list for new applicants is 2013! I'm transfering out after this semester.

Anyone who is looking at Brookdale should rethink. I just graduated, did my clinicals through Meridian and was just informed that they are no longer hiring associate degree nurses! All that time doing prereq's and then nursing classes and now no job!
I know it will require more money and more time but go for the bachelors, it makes you so much more marketable. Good luck to all.

Are you saying you were an employee of Meridian or did clinicals through a Meridian based facility?
No I was not an employee of Meridian, I did clinicals through Meridian hospital. While doing clinicals we were always introduced to nurses stating "this is so and so, she is a graduate of Brookdale", if you are a good student and a good nurse you will do well also. Now Meridian is no longer hiring associate degree nurses, this must be a conflict of interest. I am not saying anything bad about Brookdale, the instructors I had were incredible, I am saying if you are on the waiting list and had intentions of working for a Meridian hospital, dont waste your time, go to a four year college pay a little extra and get your bachelors, in the end you will find a job much easier. Isn't that the whole reason for going to school?

Brookdale is a very good school and has a good reputation. The nursing industry itself is looking for four year degrees regardless of where you graduate; however, if did such a remarkable and memorable work during your clinicals, you would have more than likely received an award from the hospital. This would have resulted in receiving an offer from the hospital. If did not, hospitals are not the only place to get a job as an RN. Even corporations like insurance companies and other healthcare facilities. You need to get your feet wet as an RN regardless of where you work. Just do your time. Don't despair!

This is not good! I have been on the waiting list at Brookdale for almost 2 years. They said I was going to get in this September (2010) but sure enough, still no letter! Maybe I will bypass the whole thing and just go to Rutgers.
