Where I work we make half of our regular pay for call and 1.5 for the first call of the week. The second and more is 2x. After reading all these posts I feel very lucky!

$4.75/hr for call. 1.5x if called in, minimum of 3 hours pay.

Portland, OR

Specializes in OR.

Update to 2013 post: Working for different hospital system now, same area (Indiana), and we are paid $5/hr for call away from hospital; time-and-a-half if called in with a 2-hour minimum. Not sure if previous system has changed their call compensation or not.

CA Bay Area hospital. Get 1/2 our regular pay rate for duration of 'on call' time. If we get called in its time & a half for the entire called in period. It's a pretty good deal all round so everyone actually wants to do call.

That's what I'm talking about. You wouldn't have to beg people to take call if you would pay them appropriately. They have to remind people to be professional and cordial at my job when they post call (half of which is already taken before they even post it). Everyone (if you have the skill) wants to do it
