California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) ABSN Spring 2023

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! I'm creating this thread for all of the CSU San Marcos ABSN Spring 2023 applicants to exchange information throughout the process of waiting for acceptance letters. My stats are: Last 60 Units - 3.52, Core Nursing - 3.84, and TEAS 86.0%. Based on this, my points are at 38 but I'm waiting on the evaluation worksheet to confirm that.

The only thing I'm nervous about regarding my application is whether or not my Chemistry class will fulfill the requirement. I currently have a grade for Intro to Gen Chem completed and I am enrolled in a Summer Organic Chem course as well but the final grade won't be posted for another week, which is after the application deadline. I'm going to submit my updated transcript as soon as I receive that grade, so here's to hoping I get into the first round of offers. Best of luck to everyone else who applied and lets keep each other updated throughout the process! ?

Thanks for creating this chat! I just got my evaluation emailed to me on Friday July 29th. I had a Prenursing core GPA of 3.88 and a last 60 units GPA of 3.79 and a TEAS score of 93.3% giving me 45 points. I’m really hopeful to get into the program and super anxious just waiting to start nursing school. I applied in the fall to CSUN and CSUF and didn’t get in due to silly mistakes, so hopefully I checked everything twice this time. I wish everyone the best of luck getting into nursing school!

Your points are amazing! You'll definitely get in ? The great thing about CSUSM is that the evaluation worksheet basically lets you know if you did everything right to get in. How long did it take for them to send you your evaluation after you submitted your application? Also are you from the Los Angeles area? I also applied to CSUN for Spring 2023 but I'd prefer to go to CSUSM because I'm from San Diego, so I wouldn't have to move and change jobs and all that. Best of luck! I'm 100% sure you'll get in though.

I think it’s a really nice thing that they do by sending the evaluation sheet as well! It at least gives you a pretty good idea if you’ll get in or not pretty early. I’m from San Diego as well! I’m kinda leaning towards it for the same reasons though since I work here as well. Not only that but the program seems to be a good one from what I can find online and I know someone who graduated from it and she really liked it. The only drawback is the length but 2 years still isn’t too bad. And it probably makes it a little more flexible to be able to work while attending even though they say we shouldn’t

Yeah the classes are all scheduled for one day of the week so it’s definitely more flexible and gives us time to maintain a part time job ?? When did you submit your application? Just trying to gauge when I can expect an evaluation by.

Sorry! I submitted July 11th?? Hope that helps

Hi! did you get your evaluation sheet through a personal email or campus email?

I received it in my personal email!

Hi everyone, I haven't applied to to CSUSM yet, but I hope to apply for the upcoming fall 2023 cohort. I had a question regarding the application. Did you guys just apply on the one application they have on the ABSN website or did you also submit a separate application via Cal State Apply to be accepted into the school first? I know CSUF makes you apply first to the university itself, then has a supplemental nursing application. I was just unclear about this for CSUSM and I can't get a clear answer from someone at the school. If someone can please clarify this for me I would really really appreciate it.

Hey!
So it’s just like csuf where you have to apply through cal state apply and there will be supplemental questions for the extended learning department. Then you just send official transcripts after your application is submitted. And all of this should be laid out on their website if you want to go and double check. You will upload your TEAS score report on the supplemental portion of the application

Hi! Thanks so much for the response. The thing I'm confused about is that the Cal State Application opens from October 1-November 30th, but how does this work if the CSUSM nursing application is due after that period for the specific cohort I'm interested in? I might be totally misunderstanding what application it is that I'm needing to fill out, I'm thinking of the application on cal state apply that people fill out when they first go to a 4 year after high school or something for their bachelors.

You should see the application open up for San Marcos ABSN for the fall 2023 and then apply through there. I’m not looking at it right now but it should say the start term and the program I believe. And if not they keep your application for a whole year and you can update your information.

Hey Everyone! Just checked myCSUSM and it changed to “admitted” from “completed application” check your myCSUSM!!
