California Requirements NCLEX Application Forms Inquiry

Published

good day. im a filipino and i applied to california bon for my nclex. submitted all my requirements except my photocopy of nursing licensure from my country of origin. i didn't include it on the application because im schedule to get my philippines nursing license due this 2nd week of december, 2007. i submitted my nclex papers around october 2007.

now i got a letter from ca bon that i need the following items.

x - a copy of your nursing license from your country of origin --- is it ok if i just photocopy my prc license card .. will that be enough? or i need to request for prc license card copy authentication?

x- educational breakdown form for the accelerated or abridged nursing program only -- what is this form? where can i get this? can anyone be kind enough to post what is this looks like?

x - school curriculum for the accelerated or abridged nursing program - again no idea where i can find this form...

i'm a second courser and according to the letter i've received i have already submitted my educational breakdown form with them....

im just wondering if those "two highlighted red" is different from the regular educational breakdown form i already submitted? and where can i get those forms? thank you very much....

any info will be very much appreciated.... god bless...

hi,ice monster. ur post worries me. im a second courser and belonging to the first batch of nursing graduates in our school branch although, the main branch has started in way, way back, 70's. ive submitted my application already but my school documents has yet to be submitted. i've also requested for a course descripition to be sent together with my tor, breakdown, etc. hoping that it will speed up the application a bit faster. pls. update me with the status of ur application because i might encounter the same problem.

wishing u best,

At this point in time, it does not matter as there are no visas available and we do not expect any for quite sometime. Also suggest that you do some reading about why you should not be going thru CA for initial licensure as since we have a retrogression, your chances of getting to the US with a visa that will permit you to work within the three years that CA gives you to present them with a SSN# is actually quite small. At the end of those three years, the application and all that is in your file will be destroyed, so there is not any benefit in going thru CA for initial licensure. Actually more reasons why not to go thru them for your license as you will not get a license without a SSN# and therefore cannot endorse anything to any other state as well.

CA does their own credentials evaluation and if you are at a different campus, then there will be additional scrutiny of your program, nothing is going to be fast.

hi, suzanne! thank you very much for your reply. are you suggesting that i rather apply for my initial licensure to other states? if so, can you please recommend the states which do not require an SSS number to get a license number? can i stll get my $107 application fee which i sent together with my application form? thank you very much for your sound advice :)best regards, wishingstar

As many of you are aware, CA gives you three years to present them with a SSN#, or your file is destroyed and you start all over again. For those of you that decided to go with CA anyhow, you can apply to another state for licensure by examination while you still have a valid file with CA, and have them forward the results, and then get a license that way. Make sure that the new state issues a license without a SSN#. Suggest that you do not do that until it has been over two years of waiting, until you know what will be happening with visas.

I'm now having second thoughts on pursuing my application in CA BRN. I'm thinking of applying to New Mexico instead. Whats the best thing to do? Can I ask CA BRN to forward my application to New Mexico Board of Nursing? If possible, Who do I contact on both States board of nursing? Do I need to fill the New Mexico Form? And pay another Fees? Or would you guys suggest that I go back to step one in applying for New Mexico to seat in NCLEX?

New Mexico issues hard license even if I dont have SSN yet right?

@ wishing star - goodluck to your application too... Whats your school? PM me...

If applying to a different BON for initial licensure after paying another state you have to start all over again including payment of fees, so basically starting from scratch again

you cant get a refund once you paid it and send the aplication form the moment they recived they will start to review your papers even if it lack one of the requirments.

States do not forward applications as they each have their own.

My honest suggestion would be to focus on getting a job in another country right now and not do anything for the US. There just are not any visas available and if you are not already in the pipeline for one, you are looking at five years plus for even a chance to get one. The US has a limit as to the number of visas that they will issue to those from any one country, and we do not expect to see any additional numbers added to any of them. There are many more applicants than there are visas and at this point in time, licenses are only good for two years and they require a SSN# to renew most of them, and without that, you license will no longer be active and you will not be able to do a thing with it or endorse it or anything else.

Get a good job experience on your resume and then you will have a better chance down the line to even get a visa. We are starting to see states require the local license again, and we are going to see work experience required as most other countries now require, definitely not getting easier for anyone.

No reason to spend hundreds of dollars at this time when it is not going to benefit you at all at this time.

And no state will refund your payment once you have sent it to them, once sent; it is no longer your money.

I just received my eligibility from CA BRN yesterday and now I don't know if I should pursue NCLEX knowing that I will have problems with my having a license once I passed the exam because of retrogression. What do you suggest is the best thing I do now?Changing states is not an option since I cannot afford to pay another $107 :o

i beleive your eligibility is good for one year, therefore, maybe you wait until just before you can apply for your att...i beleive it is good for one year also.then, you don't have to take the exam right away. perhaps take it before your att expires. see, this is why we strongly advise you new grads not to apply for your nclexrn asap. since your eligibility is already in your hands, there is nothing you can do but to take it...eventually. good luck to you.

lightblue,

if you dont mind would you know how long did it take for CA BRN to process your eligibility?

thanks
