Yes, I have considered the financial aspect and fortunately I have kind relatives willing to sponsor me just so I can get in so monetary issues, modesty aside, are out of the question. What I am concerned with though, is the assurance that I can work as a nurse after completing the program which is not clearly explained in the article. I'm still awaiting a response from the ISA advisor. I'll post it here once I have more information. Thanks for your inputs silverdragon and sharrie. Follow up question on work experience..since there is a slim chance, or worse none at all, for us new nurses to gain experience here in Phils, will work in Middle East be considered as good nursing experience? I am considering working in KSA just so I could have valuable hospital experience prior to applying in Canada. If so, will there be problems with employment verification? Anyone here done this route? Please share your experiences, thanks. By the way, goodluck to those leaving for Canada!:wink2:

I am currently doing volunteer work in one of the so called reputable hospitals here in the Philippines, and from what I've gathered, some newly hired nurses, if not most, have not undertaken IVT training yet. So the notion of preference over licensed IV therapist against non-licensed is not really true. Your getting a job offer will really depend on your knowledge and sad but true, how influential your "backer" is. But of course this is only one hospital. Anyone else here have personal knowledge of hospitals who do prefer licensed IV therapists?

thanks for responding. this should really be an eye opener, same reason why I asked in the first place. I don't have first-hand knowledge of what agencies promises to those who recruit nurses as caregivers (only heard from co-nurses who took the bait), but I'm pretty sure these information are intentionally left out.

Good thing you have shared what you know about working as a caregiver. You see, a lot of nurses here in Philippines resort to working as such since there are no opportunities to practice their degree. What I want to know, and I'm sure others here, is really how different work as a caregiver is from a nurse? Can you site some procedures and responsibilities that differ?

absolutely correct Suzanne..Also once you're employed your hospital will pay for your IV therapy training for you. So no need to rush up on things But if you guys insist on doing it now, I suggest you make sure that the institution you will be enrolling in allows you to have completion in their own hospital or else you will have a hard time completing your cases, the next thing you know the time alloted is up and you end up just wasting money and having no license altogether.

I suggest you bring your resume and other credentials at poea.That's what my friend did.And after a series of interviews and medical exams, you know the usual process, she's now leaving for KSA to work as an ICU Nurse in MOH.If I'm not mistaken, the whole process took about a month or so.I may have to confirm that with my friend.May I just remind you that you need to have at least 6 months of hospital experience, regardless if its volunteer or with pay. I just received my eligibility from CA BRN yesterday and now I don't know if I should pursue NCLEX knowing that I will have problems with my having a license once I passed the exam because of retrogression. Never forget the basics. Have a review of IMCI and your Nursing Research as well. You may also want to answer the end of chapter questions in Med Surg by Udan...I looked up some of the ques. when I got home and I was surprised to see that some of them were lifted up from the textbook God bless

Were you really present in araneta? Because if you were, you would not blame our fellow oathtakers for the poorly managed and executed event. Those nurses and their families would not have been outside if there are still available seats in the first place. Those paid seats should still be available regardless if they were late or not. Please do not be a blind witness to what really happened, thus twisting the real story. I was able to talk to one of the employees of the coliseum who was stationed at the gate and he apologized for the inconvenience the prc was responsible for. He said it was the prc who handled the tickets, had it been them, we would not have experienced such hassle because they would have assigned seat numbers to control and limit the number of people as is their usual procedure. I guess that's a valid enough evidence that it was the prc's fault and not the nurses'.

thanks for your honest reply..I am very well aware of retrogression (thanks to this forum), but I never thought that I will be affected since I am still in the initial stage of applying for US nursing licensure. Now I know...should have read more...:uhoh21:
