U.S.A. California

UCLAs application for their Summer 2017 New Graduate Residency program opened this weekend so figured I'd start the forum where we could all converse, update and support each other through the LONG and stressful process.

STAFF UPDATE

Tell us about UCLA by visiting University of California (UCLA) School of Nursing | Peer Reviews.

I applied to NICU and postpartum, but I haven't had any status change yet either. I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of us!!

Hey, I applied for Neuro ICU and NICU and my status has not changed. Keeping fingers crossed.

I'm from New Jersey and looking to relocate.

I just applied for the OR training program.

Good luck to everyone!

Hello all! I applied to the ED and Medical-Surgical floor. I attended a nursing program out of state and moved back home to CA following graduation. I've been working as a clinical research assistant at a med-tech company while waiting to start a new graduate residency program. UCLA is my first choice so I'm hoping we all hear back soon. Good luck to everyone! :)

Hey guys :) I was born and raised in LA, went to college out of state, and I'm moving back to LA after graduation. I applied to the perinatal and pediatric units on 3/7, and as of 3/29 my application status changed to "routed to interviewing supervisor." Good luck to everyone! Hopefully we start hearing about interviews soon!

Has anyone who applied to MICU or SICU have their status changed?

I applied last year, first your status changes to "routed to interviewing supervisor", then you get an email 1-3 weeks afterwards. It'll have different time slots to sign up for as well as the unit managers information that you'll be interviewing with. That day, plan to spend 3-4 hours at the interview location. Last year I signed up for an 11am slot and my interview wasn't until 1pm (there's many candidates and they're usually running behind since every candidate has to do paperwork and fingerprints), then I had a unit tour an hour after that. At the interview, they give you two behavioral type questions that you have to write mini essays for. A couple of weeks after your interview you either get a reference email or you get a phone call with your offer from HR. I'm out of state and accepted a job at a local hospital but i received an offer from Liver Transplant ICU at Ronal Reagan

Hi Herna372, thanks for the rundown. Can you shed some light on the actual interview process?

I applied to MICU and ER and have not had a status change thus far. Fingers crossed!

I think every unit is different. I interviewed with a unit manager from a unit over (mine was out sick) and the patient care supervisor. They asked me about my resume, my experience, behavioral questions and some clinical questions. I think the clinical questions wouldve been hard to answer if you don't have experience working in the type of unit you interview for.

Hi all!! I applied for Neuro Trauma ICU and CTICU. My status changed to "routed to interviewing supervisor" today. Best of luck to everyone!

Awesome for you, mbruce328! I applied to both of those also, yet still no change. I'm getting so antsy.
