Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA

U.S.A. California

Published

I am interested to hear anyones experience in endorsing their license into CA. I used the online endorsement as well as the livescan fingerprinting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I've just received my CA license thru endorsement - it took about 6 weeks! I couldn't even check on the status or reach a live person on the phone. Good luck and hope yours will come sooner!

The process of receiving a California RN license by endorsement took me about 7 weeks. I endorsed during the summer of last year, which is a traditionally busy time for the BRN because they're also processing applications from all of the people who graduated from nursing programs in May.

Does the Livescan have to be done in California, or can it be down in another state? I would much rather go that route if possible. I am just starting the process of trying to get at least a temporary license. I have been offered a NP job and am afraid I will lose it waiting on California to get a temporary license after reading so many posts.

I'm sorry - I just found the answer to my question. I have spend hours and hours on the BRN site and missed it.

Although I live in Texas, I had the Livescan done in California during a visit with my parents last year. I attempted to do the Livescan in Texas, but the online form would not allow me to select a fingerprinting location outside CA.

I can't remember how many weeks it took...I think between 6-8 weeks, from starting the process to receiving the license. I wasn't worried about the timeline since I applied several months before I was supposed to move.

Since I had no access to Livescan, the hardest part was finding a place in town that did fingerprints...by the way, try your local courthouse if you ever need to be printed. They even provide extra cards and no arrest required ;)

I mailed my endorsement application on July 24th and recieved my perm. license # on 8/20 online. I did the live scan in CA on 7/23 and they had received and processed that by the 3rd. What took so long was waiting on Oklahoma to mail the written license verification and CA to receive it. OK doesn't participate in NURSYS. I had applied for the temporary license but got the perm faster than the temp. I'm still waiting on my actual hard copy of my CA RN to come in the mail. So all in all it took about 4 weeks "ish" (since I don't have my license in hand yet).

Mine took about 4 weeks, just got it on Monday 8/20. I did the online application and did not do livescan. Endorsing from TX-CA. I know a lot of people say they wait for up to 6 weeks.

I am applying for endorsement from Virginia into California. I completed Livescan on July 19 and sent all my paperwork in via overnight mail on July 23. I barely got my temporary license issued on August 24 and am still waiting for my permanent license. I called the BRN on Monday, Aug 27 and miraculously got through after the 10th attempt or so. The woman I spoke with stated that although my package was complete, the evaluators needed time to approve my transcripts from GMU and currently they were backlogged at least 3-4 weeks. It was noted in their system that my transcripts were inputted as received on August 21. (I had ordered myself copies of transcripts at the same time to gauge the time frame and received my copies on July 27) She encouraged me to keep checking the website or to call back to check the status...

It is so frustrating because I have had a job offer in San Diego since Aug 16, but the hospital does not accept the temp license. We'll see if the offer still holds up after waiting (hopefully) another week or two. :)

I know this thread is ancient but can those of you who were waiting update us on how long it actually took? I'm waiting now--three weeks in and am curious. I know the new BREEZE system seems to be complicating matters at this point rather than facilitating. Six weeks? Eight weeks?
