Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

Thanks

Hey tututbalu,

I can only say from my experience. I sent my app in August 09 and got a response in early November just before the next deadline. Hope that helps.

Thanks. So about 2-3 months? I just know the application deadline for October 2010 start, is Feb 19th. If you don't mind me asking. What were your grades like and which date are you going to be starting? I was going to apply to most the community college nursing programs around San Diego also, but I just looked at their websites again to reprint the applications and it seems like a lot are frozen due to new board regulations or something =[ Hopefully I hear good news from NU!

Has anyone applied for the October 2010 start date?

I haven't recieved my package yet in the mail, anyone know exactly how much orientation costs? Cause I cannot see a price in the emails I recieved. Also, due to the fact that I do not own a credit card, and NSO's policy of purchasing it online with YOUR credit card, I was forced to mail my payment and application. It will take them a while to receive it and process it possibly after orientation. I was wondering if any of you know if they will allow us to turn in certain forms after the orientation date. I know immunization and physical sheet was mandatory but how about the declaration of malpractice insurance page? I don't want to get kicked out :(.

Does anyone know a good place/way to study for the TEAS test? and when do they give you a date to take the TEAS?

Hey guys! Ugh I've been trying to get all the required docs done! I have my risk insurance, cpr and some of my immunizations. My acceptance is really last minute. ANyway, in the email it said that at the orientation there will be preliminary testing. Does anyone know what the testing entails? Also, for ones who are already in the program, what should we expect for the first month? Or what should we already know before entering the program? I know I totally need to review anatomy so I'll be doing that in the mean time before the program. So much to do, so little time!!

Murse: Yes. The form is to check our sizes so we know before we go to the orientation and also if we would like to order more. The orientation fee is $1,395. I doubt they will kick you out…you are just supposed to have that information before we start clinicals. Clinicals start in NSG 211. You should email them to make sure though! I also do not have a credit card. I have a debit card from Chase that is connected to my checking account. I suggest opening one of those and putting money into the account. It makes things so much easier and faster.

Tutubalu: It took me about 3 months from the time I took my TEAS and essay. My GPA was a 3.5 I think and I got an 85.3% on my TEAS. I studied the book from the TEAS website and also the Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam book.

Hiphippo: From what I remember from reading this whole thread is that the preliminary testing is nothing you can study or prepare for. It is some kind of personality test… I think. Any of the current students can help answer too! ^_^

Thanks Twilight,

I confirmed it with national, they said they just want as much done by orientation, but they will give me more time if I need. I think I was just stressing out, cause I am nervous for the program!

Thanks Twilight Saturn...hopefully I will get a TEAS test date soon! Is there a requirement on how long the essay has to be? I think I have about a 3.3 in pre -reqs so i hope I can still get in!

Hi guys! Twilight is right the test at orientation is nothing you can study for it just tells you what your strengths are. As for starting the program they have really changed the order of classes. I think they started this new order of the program with the January 10 cohort. For us, health assessment (NSG 211) was our first class and that was one hell of a roller coaster ride! TOUGH class. I think you guys start off with nursing theory or something like that and I don't imagine it being difficult at all. My cohort doesn't take nursing theory till almost the end of the program. (Doesn't really make sense why nursing theory would be at the end does it?) Anyhoo - Just try to relax and enjoy the next couple months of having a life. ;)

Omg I haven't received my packet yet. But good thing for this forum.. I didn't know the irientaion fee was that much! Eeeek!

Tutubalu: When I took the essay the requirement was a maximum of 1 ½ pages. I am not sure if they changed it though.

Hiphippo: Yeah, I know the orientation fee is a lot, but that’s the price we pay for getting our degrees faster at a private college! I know people that are starting before me at other colleges and I am going to finish a year or more before them. It will be worth it!!

Goal-Nurse: Why hello there!
