grossmont college waiting list

U.S.A. California

I've been on the Grossmont waiting list for a year and a half now. Estimated start date is fall of 2007...anyone else?? I mainly see posts from people in programs or people still taking pre req's. Looking for others in limbo here in san diego like myself.

That is very true that people don't call to take their names off the waitlist(s) and very true that the lists are starting to move faster as people apply to multiple programs. Its very encouraging to hear that your friend got in in 1.5 years. I hope that happens for me!

I got my waitlist letter. Its going to be a long 3 to 4 year wait. :zzzzz

I guess that I will have to take all the ge requirements for the degree!!!

scoobygal,

why wait that long? go to merick or sdsu, or concord, heck move to el centro for two years and go to school there. I have a friend who just did that and she acutally finished nursing school before me. Look Grossmont is a great school but don't put your life on hold.

If you went to one of the private colleges you could have you giant student loan paid off by the time you start school at grossmont. If you wait three to four years, that means it could take you upto 6 years for an associates degree. you could just about have a masters degree in that time.

When i went to grossmont it was still a 1.5 year waiting list, so it wasn't that bad. but wow 3-4 years!!! even if you were 26 now you would be in your 30s by the time you graduate.

This is just my opinion and others are going to blast me for even thinking of merick but, you need to consider other options.

one more thing, if you fail a class at grossmont, their policy is that you can rejoin once when there is an opening in the class you failed. so that could take upto a year to get back. if you fail a second time there is no coming back. Thats a little tidbit they don't tell you until you're already in class. I know you don't plan on failing or having to take time off but life happens.

anyway best of luck and congrats on getting into grossmont.

I got an invitation to take the TEAS yesterday (I've already taken it, so that's actually one less thing I have to worry about). Does that mean I'm getting closer on the list, or does everyone on the waitlist get an invitation every semester?

when i got my invitation to take the TEAS, it said that if you have a passing score, you're still in the running to get an acceptance for the next semester. when i passed, i was accepted a couple days later. i dont know how the LVN-RN program works, but i think it's a good sign. i'd call the office & make sure that they have your previous TEAS scores on file for you.

I sent them my TEAS results today (I passed with no problem) and got an email back saying my file had been updated. Ugh - this wait is killing me. It would be great to start next semester, but I don't want to get my hopes up.

I went to Maric College and they told me that I had to work in the medical field prior to being a student there. I also am active duty Navy and I can only attend a nights and weekend program. I am going to put my name on the Palomar College list also. They just started doing the nights and weekend program again.

Hey Puresass,

have you heard anything about the NLN. I guess were suppose to know by the end of the month. I haven't even seen them. Did you end up joining the nursing association? The sweatshit order reminded me of it. I'm putting my resume for an externship together and thought dang I should have joined that. I wanted too but haven't yet. I wonder if anyone from my class joined...

one of the NLN ladies came & sat in on our lecture on monday & then today we had a meeting with three of the NLN ladies to talk about the program. they crammed all of the 2nd year students & the LVN-RN students in 355 & asked us about the program. haven't heard anything yet, though. i think they're still there until tomorrow.

i didn't join the nursing association, but i might? i don't know. kind of short on cash, though.

are you going to the scripps externship hiring fair on november 4th?

Yep, I'm going to Scripps on the 4th, and voting, and going to class. Its going to be a busy day!
